Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76984449 No -- the lamb is slaughtered on the 14th, but the Passover meal is celebrated on the 15th, which starts in the evening of the day of the 14th. That is tonight, after sunset. The Pharisees celebrated it on the 15th. But the sadduccees celebrated it at the turn of the 13th to the 14th. The last supper was Yeshua celebrating the correct passover as the sadduccees did which ignored oral law and went by the written law only. It was 12 midnight on the 14th that the death angel passed over...not 12 midnight on the 15th. By that time the Israelites were already to Succoth. BUMP ! |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 64516644 Canada 04/08/2020 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Passover commemorates the night that the Hebrew slaves in Egypt were "passed over" (that is protected) from the final plague brought by God on the Egyptians -- which was the slaughter of all first-born humans and animals. No Hebrew slaves in Egypt died that night, but all first-born among Egyptians died, from the slaves' first-born all the way up to the Pharaoh's first-born. The next day, Pharaoh gave the Hebrews permission to leave, and they started on their 40-year journey out of Egypt and towards the Promised Land, under the leadership of Moses. For Christians, Passover commemorates not only the Hebrews' supernatural protection from God and the start of their exodus from Egypt, but it also marks the night before Jesus' crucifixion. Jesus celebrated the Passover just before he was arrested. During the Passover meal, he showed us a new ritual to follow in remembrance of him. No, he ate the Passover meal with all his disciples present. After Judas left to betray him, he instituted the observance of the memorial they were to observe "in remembrance of me", that same night. Not sure what your point here is. What's the "no" referring to? The Passover meal was of course celebrated with all of Jesus' disciples and followers present, including Judas Iscariot. The memorial directive was meant for his true followers, and we are to continue it to this day. That's the purpose of this thread -- as a reminder to anyone who's forgotten or overlooked the importance of celebrating Passover as Jesus showed us. |

The lamb is to be kept until the 14th day of the first month (Nisan) and then killed and eaten that night, which is the beginning of the 15th day of Nisan (because the day starts at sundown). This is scripture. This is not Sadducees this or Pharisees that -- IT IS GOD'S WORD THAT THE LAMB BE SLAUGHTERED ON THE EVE OF THE 14TH AND EATEN THAT NIGHT (WHICH IS THE 15TH). If you don't believe me, at least believe God's Word: And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. |

Read Exodus 12 -- the lamb is to be kept until the 14th of Nisan and slaughtered for consumption that night (the 15th of Nisan, as the next day begins at sundown). Passover is tonight, according to God's Word in Exodus. I'm not sure what reference you're using, but it's wrong. |

The lunar calendar is not meant for God's children. It is used for times regarding the Antichrist and his followers. Always has been. The Solar Calendar is God's calendar. I'm not talking that new age trash either. The Solar Calendar never changes or moves. The Lunar Calendar does. The world uses the Lunar Calendar, why? Does the moon determine the seasons? Or, does the Sun? Think about it. |

How Jesus changed the Passover celebration and how we are to remember him in following those changes is the point here. Tonight is Passover. We don't need to relive that over and over. He didn't ask us to do that. But we are to celebrate the Passover as Jesus taught us to do, if we're his followers. He said I AM with you always, even until the end of the world....and yet people still looking for him to come save them....WTH |

So when is Friday? Do not quarrel about doctrines and dates Instead proclaim the name of Salvation Friday was Nisan 14 the day that dawned after sunset the Thursday evening Jesus celebrated his last Passover with his disciples. The soldiers were sent to break his legs, because the Sabbath was about to 'dawn' Friday after sunset and it would "defile the land" to leave Jesus and 'the other criminals' up on "the tree" over the Sabbath.
