OK, a person over on Trin's super pined poll thread it was bandied about the idea of a sort term temp UBI scene. Whatever we get for stimulus check is a monthly gig for maybe 3 or 4 mos. This would enable the country to readjust and gain some kind of equilibrium.

This would cover everyone, it's just a timing factor. And since the big-ass bail out is now signed into law, POTUS should do what he does best as a businessman and allocate funds as per prioritization.

People first, but back of the line goes pork earmarks, special interests, etc.

Simple solution and it can be done.
And thought struggles against the results, trying to avoid those unpleasant results while keeping on with that way of thinking. That is what I call 'sustained incoherence.' ...David Bohm

Aw man, poor landlord. Looks like you invested in a poor market, hope you have a rainy day fund! Maybe you can get a part time job to make up for it??? Right? Re: Nearly a third of apartment renters failed to pay landlords for April
I applied for unemployment on 3/22/20. I am self-employed small business contractor for government and businesses. My unemployment claim has still not been processed and the website is crashed everyday. I have never been able to reach a person.

I did contact the governor's office today, and they have to hire more people and they have, but they are not fully trained yet. She said they are putting the self-employed claims in a "bucket."

My rent was due April 1, 2020, and I had to cold check it. I had no other option. They have made me a criminal through no fault of my own. I am in the overdraft with the bank and incurring additional fees every day. All through no fault of my own.

I am considering leaving this country. . maybe. Austria, Denmark, and Sweden, even Germany are appearing to be more in line with my freedoms and thoughts. This is so unfortunate.

You should contact your Landlord and inform them you've applied for unemployment and attempt to make a partial payment with agreement to pay in full once unemployment and or stimulus checks come in.

Most landlords are going to work with you. Just don't be an ass and try to stiff them entirely. It won't end up pretty.

Except you can't right now. For the next 3 months you cannot evict renters for failure to pay.

Aren't you getting mortgage relief?
 Quoting: samOmighty

Aren't you getting a stimulus check and $600 additional unemployment?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28925333
Me, personally? No. I am a part-owner of a construction company in the Bay Area. We had to lay off 18 of the 21 laborers we employ because of this. Most of them are renters, renting in one of the most expensive rental markets in the nation. we have enough capital to keep 3 guys working doing roof leaks or any other 'critical' or 'essential' type of work.

Hopefully, we can bring in enough to cover the $15k a month Kaiser medical bill. We are unable to get the PPP SBA 7(a) loan due to the BS with Wells Fargo so we can't keep everyone on.

This really, really sucks.

You've got it assbackwards.

Renters are mostly parasitic, which is why they are renters.
Most of them overconsume to the point of not saving.

Hell I bought my first home in 1997 making a meager $13 bucks an hour. It's all about impulse control and money management. Hardly parasitic. Parasites consume the host until the host is dead.

I'm a landlord. My AGI last year was $7000.

You do understand things like HVAC cost $7k-$15k? Roof? $30k. Windows? $20k. Carpets? $3k. Repaint house? $5k.

Landlords have to set aside cash to handle those expenses unless they want a second mortgage or loan which translates to higher rent for tenants.

It's really incredible how ignorant some people are.

It is obvious to anyone with a brain, that any landlord that thinks like you is being PAID by someone to pull out the rug from under you customers. You are being incentivised somehow. That makes YOU the crook if you are found out.
