how hard is a death of direct family member
Thank God all of my direct family members are all still healthy but I'm afraid in the future something unexpected could happen all of sudden. I don't think I could handle it.

My son died last year. I am dead as I type this...that's how it feels. May you never go through it. But you will.

They say no parents should experience death of their son or daughter. May I ask why? If you don't mind me asking.

It's Life, as difficult as it can be.

You will experience it. It is a fact.

Love them, honor them, appreciate them now.

Death of a child is unimaginable to me, so sorry. OP- youre very lucky to have never lost a close family member, you will, and it will be excruciatingly hard. Enjoy every moment youve got with them.

.
... lost my dad when I was 17 years old ... he died in an auto accident so we only saw his dead body ...
.
... my mom lived to 95 years old when she passed after living with nasty health issues ...
.
... hardness of death probably depends on age - health conditions - interface with person - and many where you believe the passed go? ...

for me it is compartmentalizing it...lost my grandparent in jr high, my mom when I was 27 and my hubs 3 years ago. Everyone deals differently (VERY) I have learned to give it a short time, deal and move on. Grief is fine, it's healthy, but you can't live there
You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or you will lose yourself every time

Re: how hard is a death of direct family member
Life changing event. Speak from experience, it will show you what life is about and may help you make better decisions about your life. Since when faced with death, it becomes so clear what matters in life and 99% of things become irrelevant.

It's a great growth opportunity for your soul, but it hurts, quite deeply. You need to find ways to cope, learn/grow from such experiences and not be dragged down by sorrow.

I have lost my Mom, Dad, and one sister so far. I was heartbroken and sad but did't cry. Why? I know where they will be.
