Trump going to look like a mental midget when the food shortages hit - especially as more and more people realize he was easily snookered into tanking the economy/supply chains over virus with a lower death rate than the regualr FLU/Pneumonia.

They will have a difficult time
getting EMPLOYEES back
with the State
and NOW THE FEDERAL government
are BOTH paying them unemployment
far more then what they were making
when they are working.
Everyone will just STAY HOME
and collect over $30 per hour.

Smithfield Foods CEO

“The closure of this facility, combined with a growing list of other protein plants that have shuttered across our industry, is pushing our country perilously close to the edge in terms of our meat supply. It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running. These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain, first and foremost our nation’s livestock farmers. These farmers have nowhere to send their animals,” said Kenneth M. Sullivan, president and chief executive officer, for Smithfield.

So, AOC was walking through the Bronx. She came upon a set of tracks. She said to herself, "Oh look, deer tracks." She looked again and said, "Oh wait, those are bear tracks". Pondered a little more and said, "Oh silly me, those are rabbit...." The train hit her.

You better buy a bigger gas tank - at 50 cents a gallon soon, get some underground tanks.

Trump said in his briefing today that he had talked to Russia, Saudi's and Mexico and they had agreed to cut production, so that low gas price might not last much longer.

It will stabilize the oil market, my concern is that in my area the stores are only about 60% stocked and limit purchases, So what happens when all of the people who were laid off 3 weeks ago or more get their money and storm the stores.

I wrote a warning thread but it didn't get any reply's last night, I bumped it this morning but still nothing, Oh well at least I tried.

Good information in your thread, 5 stars.

Went to Home Depot to pick up a door I special ordered a while back and some cleaning supplies, they had a lot of toilet paper next to the cleaning supplies. I bought one package.

Then to Walmart, they were out of the milk, ham and soup I needed, but had plenty of the big packs of toilet paper. I bought another package.

Finally went to a regional grocery store, they had the soup, ham, and a different brand of milk that costs about 25% more than what I normally buy. They also had plenty of TP, but I couldn't justify buying any more.

Over all good on TP and produce, about 70% down on dairy, 80% down on canned goods, 40% down on meats as far as normal stock goes. Prices seem 5-15% higher than 8 weeks ago, but there are almost no good sales.

Tyson Foods. It’s starting here in the heart of the country, heart of the Midwest. Are you ready for $20/lb ground beef? If you can even find some. I’m telling you this because I work for a huge trucking company that is nearby them and that’s all we do is haul for Tyson Foods. The worlds largest meat packing plant is at the Tyson plant in Dakota City, Nebraska. Right on the border with Iowa and South Dakota. Over 4,000 workers are at this plant. They now have 30 confirmed cases to in just TWO days. They have set up a huge tent outside where they are testing workers as we speak. This is just much like the Smithfield plant in Sioux Falls that started off like this and then has exploded to more than 1,000 cases.

This situation is developing...

PS you better make sure you FULLY cook all of your meat from here on out. I like a rare steak as much as the next guy, but it’s too risky right now.

The difference between my trip last week to the grocery store and today was pretty telling. All staples today were about out. This was a few hours after the truck in the AM by the way. All chips and soda were fully stocked. Produce was fully stocked. Any item that could last more than a week was depleted and about out. Also marked up about 50-100% more than normal.

Suspension of visa processing for Mexican seasonal workers hits U.S. farms, fisheries

March 19, 2020 at 1:19 a.m. GMT+7

American farmers are bracing for a shortage of seasonal workers following the State Department’s suspension of routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa processing in Mexico, including for temporary migrant laborers, beginning Wednesday.

The delay in visa processing for farmworkers comes just as harvest season begins in Florida. Companies responsible for feeding the country are already expecting fewer available workers to manufacture, deliver and unpack groceries as the coronavirus pandemic intensifies.
