If you have been following this thread then you are aware of what is going on. The supply chain is locking up.

The first to get noticeably hit is pork.

To put it simply: processing plant disruptions are causing a backup at the farms because the hogs cannot be processed. As more hogs are stuck at the farms the prices drop and farmers can’t afford to hold onto them so they are culled. Meanwhile prices increase because of the limited amount available due to reduced finish product.

More concerning is that this same problem can occur anywhere in the supply chain: feed, farms, plants, delivery and retail.

To be clear, this does not just impact the prices and availability of pork chops but everything that uses pork as an additive or primary ingredient.

This can also happen to chicken, beef..etc.

Taken one step further, this can happen to any packaged or refined good.
