Papa lost his battle to COVID-19 today ~ prayers needed for my family

What do you think is the reason they don't let people visit with necessary precautions? Do you think they don't know, so are just being extra safe? Or do you think the viral load determines the intensity of contagious?

Simple, you were one of the first people I talked with here on GLP. That seems like a lifetime ago. I have always respected your grace and elegance on this site.

demand an autopsy...demand lung tissue samples and demand a report...look for coagulated blood..black blood..and dead lung tissue

I know of the hydroxychloroquine treatment. I'm not sure of the intravenous C. I was only able to see his test results on his patient portal. I couldn't see meds they were giving him, but the doctor told us about the hydroxychloroquine.

Getting info was not easy while he was hospitalized. :\

So sad that you and the family had to go through such a roller coaster and even your nanny not be able to even be there to say goodbye or hug him for the last time. No one should ever need to go through this.

But you wére with him Sim, through your heart, the music you played for him with all the songs he loved so much. And your nanny sleeping in his t-shirt. You know, your Papa felt your presence, all of it. I am sure of that. He was a very remarkable, kind and loving man and his love and memories will never leave your heart, nor that of nanny or anyone in your family.

I know it hurts more than words can express, but Papa will brighten Heaven above and make it an even more loving place. His star will never fade. Not there and not here.

You reminded me! They also found a blood clot in his lung, but he was making some improvements after they gave him a medication to treat it. Just wanted to mention that as I had forgotten to before.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my father to 9/11 related illness, IPF, he was NYPD. There is a higher power taking care of your papa right now. It will take time, but your grief will pass, somewhat.

With a broken heart I share the news of the passing of my grandfather (papa) due to COVID-19 complications. My family is so devastated right now and we all need some prayers.

Due to the current restrictions, this incredibly wonderful man died without any of us being able to be by his side. That part hits me the hardest. My nanny (grandmother) is shattered. They were together since they were 13 years old. They were just as in love now as they were then. They were the perfect example of true love. Nanny has been sleeping with one of his t-shirts while he has been in the hospital.



A little history...

Papa started having symptoms on Monday, March 23rd. By Thursday, March 26th the symptoms had gotten bad and my nanny had to call 911. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was admitted and officially tested for the virus. He tested positive.

Nanny had given me papa's online patient portal login information while he was in the hospital which is why I have access to that above screenshot.

Friday, March 27th they had to put him on oxygen and by Sunday, March 29th he was on a ventilator. There have been so many ups and downs since the 29th. Even more so in just this past week. But today the doctor said papa's body had stopped fighting and that they were going to take him off the ventilator as there was nothing more they could do for him. He said it wouldn't be long after papa came off the ventilator, and he was correct sadly. Papa passed away within hours. They said they kept him sedated and comfortable.

Papa didn't deserve this painful, lonely death. He was 78 years old, mostly healthy. He has a great-grandson being born in July (my sister's baby).

I just ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This is so very hard. Even harder because we can't be together during this time. :(

the clots in the lungs returned ...5 days of hc is the minimum but the damage may have already been done before he even got on the vent. Did they lay him flat with hi flow o2...its the most recent attempt that seems to work but only if enough of the lung is still getting bloodflow..but once the lungs are clotted its pretty much a lost cause.

When one of my friends father passed she made pillows out of his shirts to give to family members. That might be something you could do for your Nana.
