There was a Bill in Congress that was just recently shelved....but it is a very reasonable concern and there is talk that they are re-writing a new Bill to be presented after the sElections.

This wasn´t about the "internet rumours" of the draft or who wrote the legislation....at least that wasn´t my point in posting it. It was just another example of how this Admin is finding more ways of squashing our Freedoms.

If this Admin has it´s way, they are not stopping with Iraq. This war and a plan to "stabilize" the Middle East was in place LONG before 911 or before Bush even became pResident.

Our military is already stretched to it´s limits with tours being extended and what some refer to as the backdoor draft.

Given the news today about the mutiny over in Iraq and reports of suicides, AWOLS, and soldiers not reporting for duty....I would say that our soldier´s are being stressed beyond what they can endure.

It is not unreasonable that people would consider that a draft is possible so why can´t it be an election issue?

Cro, I do love you. We have freedom of speech here, right now. Even if the emperor passes legistlation to take it away, we will still discuss it with anyone at hand. Personally, I think Saddam was necessary to control the personality of the culture represented by the Iraqis. I know that sounds cold but we are dealing with "what is" as opposed to what we bring here from our various soul backgrounds. If someone holds a gun to your head and says: "Bow to our will" and in your heart you say "No", then I would say you are not in conflict and I respect that. If your child (and they often are the antithesis of our own philosophy) comes to you and says: "I believe I need to serve in the armed forces, to protect my country," they I would certainly be proud that they stand on their own and embrace their own principles. Don´t you think our dialogue is more interesting than the article? That is the nature of blabbing with others...we get off target. You could be my sister, the one who fought me tooth and nail but I would die for you if it meant you would get to persue your dream.

I will admit....I am mostly anti-war and can not come up with too many circumstances where I would be in support of a war, though I am not a total pacifist. Please go back and review the facts and the premise given as to why we went to war and why our Congress approved. They were flat out misled and lied to and taken advantage of by our grief and resolve following 911. And if you get a chance, read PNAC, you do know what I am referring to? I know Rangel wrote it. He saw the writing on the wall with bush´s warplans - which were planned before the jerk was elected by the supreme court - and Rangel wrote it up so there would be no exclusion for the elite´s active participation.
