As of late Wednesday afternoon, he had paid a $30,000 bond.
He said he had lost seven friends and family members in six days to COVID-19 and said his mother-in-law is “fighting for her life at the moment from this horrible virus.”

Kovner grew up in Canarcie, New York. While his friends practiced football in the streets, he studied zen archery. While other teen-agers played with dogs and cats, Kovner kept a boa constrictor in his bedroom. And when his childhood buddies cut their hair, put on ties and entered the business world, Kovner stayed in blue jeans and continued perfecting his art.
