I just had the ac guy braze a new scroll compressor into my heat pump. The old one was dated 1999. Other ac guy wanted 5980 to replace the indoor unit and outside heat pump. I replaced the compressor fan motor for 80 bucks and he put in a new compressor for 1500. Always shop around. I might be dead by the time this compressor goes

I don't know anything about ac and heating units, but that sounds like a great deal good for you! How long do they usually last?

The last one apparently 21 years. I worked on the unit myself and knew what was wrong with it. Most ac people would expect you to take their advice and Iif I had he would have replaced everything...for 5980
