Used to follow this band. The Merry Thoughts. They were going to release a new album in 2011, it never happened. Their website changed to a blank white screen for YEARS. For shits and giggles, I wen there yesterday. It now redirects to a photo of a Chinese asshole. A porn ad. But I don’t think this is an accident. The ad was connected to a major information website in Chinese. Called sogou dot com. Interesting because it’s almost as if the person wants people, westerners, to know about this website. Of course, one would have to spend a lot of time with google translate, but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

For the past few days I've been contemplating the impossibility of excessive sufficiency. I hold that the essence of virtue is perfect sufficiency. It logically follows that the potential for development of virtue is infinite.

How do you translate virtue into sufficiency?
I could see how development of virtue could be infinite but is virtue infinite?

Take the example of Justice. Can there be "excessive" Justice, or would that simply be unjust? Right there, in the definition of justice is the concept of sufficiency. Another example is Finesse. Can there be too much Finesse or would that simply be roughness (if excessive in strength) or weakness (if excessive in gentleness)? Another example is Adaptability. Is it possible to be "too Adaptable" or would any "too-ness" signify an inability to adapt to the circumstances? All of these are virtues from my standpoint, and for each of these sufficiency is essential to their meaning. What attribute the virtues have in common must be an attribute of virtue independent of the more specific manifestations of virtue. Based on this, I hold that sufficiency is essential to the meaning of virtue (as such) and, to distinguish from the more specific manifestations of virtue, I say the essence of virtue is perfect sufficiency.
