1. EMP can happen, anyone that says otherwise is an idiot.

2. Most likely if one were to occur, electronics that were not attached to the grid when it occurred would not be destroyed, although this is not a guarantee.

3. If an EMP occurred affecting a significant portion of the United States, a very large amount of our population would die due to various reasons.

4. If an entity had access to a nuclear weapon, and the means to elevate it to an altitude of 100,000 feet, they would easily be able to accomplish this situation.

5. This act would likely not be very difficult to obfuscate it's origin, for example a fishing trawler off the Eastern seaboard may very well be able to launch a missile capable of this were to it contain in it's payload a nuclear device.

6. There are most likely other available devices that can generate an EMP of sufficient payload to effect such a scenario.

7. No deaths would directly result from such an event. Aircraft crashes and other events would certainly follow, however there is an amount of deniability involved with such an act.

8. Due to the current Geo-political situation, an event of this nature is more likely to occur now than at any point previously.

9. Any nation, nation state, nuclear equipped entity, or any non-nuclear EMP capable entity is more likely to use this option now than at any point in the past due to the aforementioned Geo-political situation.
