Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78542756 It speaks also about morality of the whole action. But if the US did not do it, the Soviets would, which they actually did for some of them if I understood correctly. so, where is the moral objection in this one? because they hired Nazi scientists? nothing in life is white and black only, that's why the rainbow exists. Your thoughts? one may ask then, if leading Nazi scientist who constructed weapons of mass destructions and has caused thousands of deaths because of his inventions, why were other Nazi perpetrators chased after the WW2 for decades then? should've been left alone by that logic double standards and that's the whole point, of this moral, unethical story and undercover program Thank you for responding. However has nothing to do with being nazi or not, they were valuable assets, according to the US for example, some of them, so they got hired. The rest were not, so had to pay for their actions in that war. It's not double standards, it's protecting those that have to be protected, because of their usefulness . And also it's not right to put them all under one word, maybe those that got protected, were not so Nazi style but they were forced to do what they did, but those are classified documents probably. Either way, the people involved with that operation, not the Nazi scientists...were very brave. However this is also something classified probably, so to answer it so quick as just did myself. |

Paper clip had profound global impacts, Quoting: Red Hot Chilean Pepe Good question....I'm video taping it for my family....the young lady is writing a book....a lesser known operation "Dragonreturn" that dovetails with "Paperclip" Dragonreturn was when we gathered up the German scientist that Russia sent back to Germany.....the Russians didn't treat the captured scientists as well as we did....in fact just the opposite.....they got the information they wanted then kicked them all out of the country. That’s really cool. Did you know Werner Von B.? Also were you involved in the Roswell cover-up. Congratulations. Very prestigious author!! |

Since in every operation that is classified, the details of the operation are never let in public view as a whole, since everybody involved in any top secret operation is bound by specific orders signed from the start and forever after, how much of any interview data can be considered reliable or not? Thanks. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76775164 Can you be more specific? in what way was Germany "raped"? What were the technological advancements of Germany after WW2? Which patents did the US (United States) stole? Thank you. Pharmaceuticals, BASF had those tape recorders back then. Can't remember too much to be honest, but Germany was 20 years ahead of everyone else. It's how they managed to last as long as they did. Rocket fuels, etc. are what was leading edge tech and those scientists were what Paperclip was all about. |

Excuse me for asking and wondering, but since the US has gained from that specific operation, why now those that got involved should have that attitude towards them? Isn't it irony that one Country gains from something and then after years the Country that gained from that, is crucifying those that helped them gain from their actions, and am not talking about the nazi or not scientists. If I understood right of your comment above, if not, my apologies. |

I grew up in Huntsville Ala. during the start of the space age. Werner Von Braun lived there during that time. There were so many Germans that the speed signs on the road were also posted in kilometers. My father worked at redstone but was top secret so he never talked about it when he came home. Our house used to shake like an earthquake when the rockets were tested. |

Rocket fuels, etc. are what was leading edge tech and those scientists were what Paperclip was all about. Thanks. Concluded, operation paperclip provided the US, with the necessary power to compete in a way, through the weapons of mass destruction and technology in general that at that time was taking place between Russia and the US, since Germany had the technological advantage. This was a must at that moment in time. Now after decades, we do understand that this could possibly be wrong, what happened decades ago, due to us and the rest not being in War. For that reason above we believe the people must know about this operation and full disclosure to take place for the future generation to learn from our mistakes. In reality now, do not expect us to provide all the details cause this is actually the right thing to do because you eat the bacon and then you tell us not to kill the animal that the bacon came from. Please understand us, thank you for your time. |
