From Shi Zhengli’s papers and resume, it is clear that they successfully isolated the virus in the lab and were actively experimenting with species <-> specie transmission.

COVID-19 seems to affect males more adversely,even rumors that some males could be sterilized after recovering from the ACE receptor attacks from COVID.
