By all accounts it really is more of a Juniper than a Cedar, though Cedars and Junipers are actually related. In fact, the family of plants in which the Eastern Red Cedar belongs extends to the giant Sequoia, the towering Redwood, a variety of other Cedars and Cypresses all over the world, and even the Common Juniper, Juniperus communis. All these trees are also somewhat interchangeable when it comes to their medicinal and spiritual properties, as well. Its use as a spiritual agent, interestingly enough, is found in different cultures, on completely different continents." [link to iowaherbalist.com (secure)] . |

Quoting: Vision Thing I admit I didn't click the link though. Pretty important information though to have a definite species that you are referring to. "Cedar" covers a lot of ground. At least you are admitting something. lol Look up Lebanon cedar. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79581118 Singapore 04/20/2021 06:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is another cedar that a little different from our cedars up here in Canada Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43226228 "In Iowa, the Cedar we are happy to have with us is the Eastern Red Cedar, Juniperus virginiana. "Juniperus" is not genuine cedar, it's another genus altogether (the category just above species). No doubt it has medicinal properties, but it's not the same. Cedrus is the one you should in principle look for. Cedrus libani is the best AFAIK (Lebanon cedar). |

Finnish people always had cedar "switches" in their saunas to stimulate their skin to sweat more during a sauna. By the way, the correct pronunciation is "sow-nah," NOT "saw-na." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2652400 What do you mean? They are not supposed to be here? I've heard the same thing said about other types of plant medicine and fungi. That just proves they are miraculous. Coloradical |
