Re: Got Diagnosed With COVID-19... (Again???)
Went to the ER this morning since I was sick and missed an entire week of work last week.

Originally, I was hoping to go for an all-clear so that I could officially return to work this week, but got a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 and a two-week quarantine instead!

This wasn't that surprising to me, since I was quite ill, but didn't have coughing or breathing issues...just everything else for about a full week.

Luckily, for work (and being a Union member) I can still get paid while out...without needing sick time. Obviously, not the case for many that are taken out of work temporarily due to this virus.

My family in California is also going through the same (all of them are sick, only the BIL is of concern as he has not improved much).

I really hope you get well soon!!!

My Brother and his daughter were added to the numbers in Austin TX without any testing, just "presumed positive" !! They both got through it in a week and wasn't that bad for either of them other than a couple days of asthma like issues. He is a smoker and she just turned two for what that's worth, this was back in early March.

Yeah, I thought I was well enough yesterday, but I was still slightly sick...even today (but not bad.)

This thing seems to last 10 or more days (like in my case here) which is kind of fucked up...

So you knew for a fact 6 weeks ago you had it and now you got it again?

03/25/2020 01:39 AM

I know for a fact that I had it after seeing other people show the symptom of "no taste" occurring. (That symptom was prevalent later in someone else that I know, and was also many days before being mentioned in the media.)

When that particular thing happened to me weeks ago, (it was the first "real" symptom), I first thought it was something neurological, like an impending stroke, or a brain tumor... I was really kind of worried, and afraid to mention it and freak everyone out, so I waited...

Then, I got rather sick and had every other symptom in the book for this COVID-19 outbreak (..but what would probably be considered one of the "mild" cases), so I didn't go to work for about 12 days...

...and then I got shitloads of flack about "missing work" (aka: probably saving their lives!)

You can never win, can you?!

You should get the antibody test. If you had it twice that throws out the immunity theories.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78854087

I've been researching this thing quite a bit and there are quite a few minor mutations (I think 40+ known?) and the biggest problem besides not knowing if we can really even develop an immunity to it, is that if we do, it might only last for a few weeks or months (at best.)

This is almost in line with things like SARS and MERS, but those are now far less widespread. During flu seasons, a temporary (partial) immunity that only lasts weeks or months is generally sufficient since the seasonal change tends to ratchet-down the spread (of the flu) anyway, so you don't need a long immunity period since the next flu you get is going to be different anyway...

With this stupid virus, we don't have enough data yet on how it weathers (literally) the change in seasons and we also don't know how fast you can be re-infected, especially by a different-enough mutation.

There have been numerous cases already of re-infection already, and also cases where they isolated multiple simultaneous infections of different strains in one patient. That one sucks hard, and you'd also expect a re-infection to be rather seasonal...kind of in line with mutations, like the flu, but this cocksucker virus is mutating like mad and isn't giving a flying fuck about whether or not it's "in-season" either... Influenza mutations take longer to circulate, but SARS-CoV-2 is way worse in many regards.

Yeah, I have a followup coming and I saw the new tent they have setup outside the ER ambulance ramp for the blood draw testing (..antibodies) This was as I was going in for my screening. It looked like a scene from an Outbreak type of movie...

Re: Got Diagnosed With COVID-19... (Again???)
So here's the thing about these tests and the false negatives...

A family friend died a few days ago. He had three tests: two negatives and a final positive. The last test was too late and he was already severely compromised.

It started with him already being in the hospital for a different reason; he was tested twice while admitted. He was discharged and had severe symptoms within about two days. At that point he was re-tested (this time, positive) and readmitted to the hospital where he died days later...

His first two tests were probably false negatives!
 Quoting: AkashicRecord®

....I wouldn’t be so quick to make that assumption.

He ENTERED the hospital for a completely unrelated medical issue and had no CV19 symptoms. Yet when he EXITED the hospital, he began presenting with CV19 symptoms.

To me, it’s obvious his first mistake was going to the hospital at all.

The ER was rather quiet, but they aren't letting people pile into waiting rooms at all. Everything is very methodical and coordinated. Many people wait in their cars and tons of work (like taking insurance information and demographics) is done via phone...even if waiting in a closed examination room, like I was.

It's Connecticut, and they didn't feel wasting a test on me that late on the game would have been worth anything.

I've been exposed to a number a people who had this virus, so it was just par for the course...and a bit of a ticking time bomb.

The doctor that saw me told me that 1/3rd of tests are turning up false negatives! We had a few severely ill family members here over the weeks, some are first responders, and every test was coming up (rather impossibly) negative...but it was also taking about 10 days for results, so that's no bueno!

I don't put much faith in the results of some of these tests right now. You have to go with symptoms first, tests secondary...
 Quoting: AkashicRecord®

But you don't HAVE the symptoms.

Maybe you're also not sick with Corona Virus - you might have tested positive from an earlier exposure. Tons of people in this country are going to test positive with exposures from MONTHS ago (and maybe before as I don't think this is "new"). Maybe you have something ELSE and it's just convenient for them to call it this. Sometimes they just don't know what you have. I almost died about 15 years ago from an apparent virus that they were never able to identify. They told me I was going to be the subject of a paper or some such shit.

So they "diagnosed" you as positive without a test???? that's a good indicator in my book that they are cooking the numbers to appear worse than they are.

My wife's aunt and uncle had it.... Fully recovered now but we were over at their house the day before the uncle got really sick... He supposedly had a fever that day. For something so contagious it must be a miracle that None of us caught it, including our 3 children that were there with us.

Her aunt and uncle even have two adult children that are temporarily living with them and they never caught it either...

So far all the evidence closest to me makes it really hard to believe the official narrative on this virus

Yep, anyone with a runny nose or sniffle has the "Covid". It's like everyone forgot about the flu or common cold. Now they just automatically diagnose you as "Covid" positive, no test needed because you know those silly tests are always throwing "false negatives".

False negatives probably means that intermittently they were getting false a smaller percentage of the time amongst a larger proportion of positive.

That's the way I understand the logic.

The cold or flu never made me sick for over two weeks... When I'm sick, it's usually like this:

Flu, usually 3-5. 3 for quick recovery.

Colds, maybe 5-10...usually no more than 7. 5 for quick recovery.
