Contact Tracing Apps - Just In Time For Reopening!
Contract tracing apps for your phones are being developed across Europe and the US that, once installed, will run constantly in the background and record information of anyone else's phone you come into contact with.

This should help social distancing too... stay away from people who have the app or your personal information will get recorded by their phone. What's the distance on this data collection? You won't be able to tell who has the app and could be recording your information.

[link to www.cnet.com (secure)]

The article goes on to mention that people who have the app and test positive for COVID-19 will upload the "anonymized list" of all the people they've encountered, and these people will then be sent an alert telling them to self-isolate. Yeah, right, I'm sure that list will be anonymous. No one's personal data can be tied to their phone, right? scratching

The release dates of these apps in Europe and the US are timed to coincide with relaxed lockdown measurements and reopenings. Both Google and Apple are set to release their apps for Android and iPhones in May. Ready to go just as states start opening up -- what timing! "Worried your state is opening too soon? Just download our app, we'll watch everyone you come in contact with and make sure you're 'safe'."

The article stresses the importance of everyone downloading the app. I have no doubt Apple and Google are working on ways to push these apps to phones without user consent.

I like how the article also mentions people who are hesitant to get the app because of their "culture of privacy". So privacy is relegated to a cultural ideal now? Soon they'll categorize those who want privacy as a subculture. One they can demonize and label as paranoid dissenters. I can see them throwing people who are against their ID-containing vaccine into this subculture too.

Why download an app that will cause you grief.

Or leave phone at home.

No contact tracing. You become invisible.

Don’t have to play their game.

People can't leave their phones at home. They are ADDICTED to carrying a tracking device everywhere they go. It's been known for years that phones track you. Then they bitch because they are tracked. Sybil 2.0.

Yep, I certainly don't plan on downloading it. Unfortunately, I do need to carry a phone, for work if nothing else. I'm a hermit as much as I can be.

So, will I be forced to buy and carry an IPhone/Android device, with this app installed?

No. So fuck them.

Oh definitely! I agree, and there's no way I'm taking their vaccine or downloading their app. I didn't know it was available in Switzerland too. Hopefully they don't make it mandatory for you guys, but I fear that's where it's all headed eventually.

I think that their new vaccine will make it so they'll be able to track you without a phone. Too bad there are just some awful, non-conformistt, selfish people like us who won't comply. chuckle

I bet you didn't know that many big names stores have facial recognition filming everyone who walks into the store. The info is shared on a network an immediately alerts store security if a known shoplifter enters.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77797825

The Bill (or apparently the Exec Order) authorizes the government to tap in to the backdoor access on ALL network connected cameras, public & private. The reality is that the NSA has always been jacking into all these video feeds (Edward Snowden leaked that info which is why he lives in exile). They also gain access to cameras on cell phones & private computers.

They've also had everyone under 24/7 audio surveillance for 3-4 decades & every last syllable everyone has ever spoken is databased, parsed, analyzed with voice recognition software & stored. This "enhanced background check" crap they're about to ram down everyone's throat with these new unconstitutional government licensing requirements to buy guns & ammo will rely on an analysis of these archived databases. It is also cross-referenced with every last bit of recorded data from all medical & governmental agencies & each person's entire online history (every last thing you've ever posted, every email ever written or received, etc.).

In other words, everyone is about to be investigated for thoughtcrimes based on a lifetime of accumulated government surveillance. So to answer your question - yes. I'm well aware of that & it's infinitely worss than you ever imagined.

They already triangulate your location from the GPS emitters built into the mobile phones. This app is probably to just fine-tune the facial recognition tracking grid. Also, the Communist death squads (i.e. "Contact Tracers") need to know who you've been associating with if the kill-order comes down the chain of command. Silly dissidents!

Pssshh it's only a small part of the tip of an iceberg.
It is a nothing iceberger. j/k

If you take a picture of someones face, and the little rectangle pops up, and you are using a network enabled device...well, game over man. You have been assimilated - again.

Not bashing thread OP, is very good point to bring to the larger picture of the constant groping of our private lives by the technology we love. 5 star.

luckily, they are not allowed to force vaccines on anyone here. of course, this could change (if it ever went for a referendum and more than 50% voted for it). for now, thy can only make it mandatory for certain jobs, and, in that case, you would jst be able to quit, and not need to take a vax.

the privacy laws here are also very strict, and there is a lot of debate at the moment about the tracking apps. they are trying to guarantee total anonymity, but i still will never go along with either.

I wonder if they're allowed to do that or what the repercussions are for not having your phone with you. Do you need it with you as ID or to move freely in China? I imagine they're required in some places, and I know they have all of that social score nonsense. Not sure if people could ditch them or not.

Thanks, AC! You're very right. I try to avoid as much of that tech as possible, but as XeroGravity mentioned, it's everywhere. hiding Even if you aren't carrying a phone, you can still potentially be identified by facial recognition, etc. All of these things are just little tips of icebergs... all indicators that there much more beneath the surface.
