So now it is a showdown. Quoting: Doctor Congo Will the governor send in the state police to do the enforcement? Will the sheriff arrest the state police? There is going to be some spilled blood. I hope other rural counties do the same thing. In the meantime there will be a lot of Dayton people heading out to the few restaurants in that county. People were already talking about just driving to Richmond because they are opening up. I'm wondering.....what is the difference between sheriff and city police? The videos I'm seeing of police overstepping are just traffic cops. But we've got this sheriff Dept and I had read about the sheriff's in Michigan refusing to enforce things. Why is it the sheriff's stepping up? The Office of Sheriff is not a department of county government, it is the independent office through which the Sheriff exercises the powers of the public trust. No individual or small group hires or fires the Sheriff, or has the authority to interfere with the operations of the office. Preble is pretty rural. Their big festival is the pork festival. I'm in Clermont, agree it makes no sense to close down Preble. I've driven 32 out that way and at times am the only car on the road.
