HBO originals were movies made BY HBO, and they'd get a lot of play durining the time they came out. Heavily promoted and aired in prime time.

The particular movie the OP is looking for was NOT an HBO original. It was a low-budget b-movie that HBO acquired the rights to air. HBO used to show a lot of borderline softcore porn / action b-movies late at night.

I remember another movie (not the same one OP is looking for) called Powderburn starring Jay Irwin. Look that film up. The OP's movie was in a similar vein. Low budget, poor acting, some shootings/explosions, some sex scenes. Typical late night HBO stuff, but NOT HBO original.

The wife, as I recall, was a white woman, possibly red-head. The hot chick he picks up on the road is Hispanic/brown skinned.

The film took place in Southern California or SW USA. Mid-90s (1994-1997). Low budget, action, softcore porn.

At the end, it was all a dream. The guy was still in prison, creating a daydream to keep his sanity as he served his sentence. (The pretty Hispanic girl was, in real life, the prison warden's mistress, being dropped off at the prison in a limo and meeting the warden.)
