Biden asked to withdraw from presidential race over sexual assault allegations

DEMOCRATIC presidential candidate Joe Biden has been urged to drop out of the race to the White House by a woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her 27 years ago.

Tara Reade urged the former vice-president to “step forward and be held accountable.”

Speaking in an interview she said: “You should not be running on character for the president of the United States.”

Ms Reade has accused Mr Biden of sexually assaulting her in the then-Delaware senator’s office.

She told US show host Megyn Kelly that in 1993 he forced her against a wall and put his hands under her shirt and skirt, penetrating her with a finger.

When she rebuffed his advances Ms Reade said: “He pointed his finger at me and he said ‘You’re nothing to me. You’re nothing’.”

Mr Biden denies the allegation and said on MSNBC last week: “It is not true. I’m saying unequivocally it never, never happened.”
