I was thinking of canned beans and fruit mostly.

Don't buy canned beans unless you are concerned about water. Bulk mixed beans and flour with plenty of oil, salt, and sugar will keep you alive. Those Himalayan salt lamps have a nice chunk of good salt in them.

Consider EVERYTHING... read the RDA labels on the packages.

Beans, rice, salt, a water purifier of some sort (life straw?) salsa, spirulina and can some butter, flour.

Beans and rice are complete proteins, you have to have fat as well, spirulina really bumps the minerals, and you have to have salt for your well being, too.

Buy 200 bucks of the above and you should be alright for 3 to 4 months.

Stay able bodied and healthy.

Most farmers will trade food for manual labour.

Know how to dig a post hole. Fix a fence. Shovel out a stall. Herd livestock. Milk a cow. Slaughter and feather a chicken. Till soil. Move rocks. Cut down trees. Clear branches and underbrush.
