If you are trying to say that today's world is worse than in the Roman times, for instance, you're just wrong. On average, the world has never been a better place to have children. Personally I would need a paradise to even consider it. After reading some esoteric books about paradise planets I'm even less inclined to reproduce. If I'm selfish for not wanting my children to possibly grow up disliking it as much as I do then I'm selfish.
