Between the wife and I we save about $200 in gas a month now. Also, Ive cut down smoking cigrettes significantly so I save another $100 /month on that too. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78430146 Wife cooks dinner more now that she doesnt have a long commute to work so we are saving money on take-out too! All in all i'm ahead about $400/month. Yes, we need to be thankful we still have jobs even if we are working from home, which is not optimal (in my case). I figure I will work a few more years until I hit 63 or 64 and then quit. IDK, it's difficult to think about never working again, as much as I say I would like to retire. This work from home thing has made me realize that life is a little lonely when you live in the country and are a single person. When you are stuck home all the time, it certainly does cut down on a lot of expenses. You might have more in utilities, but the gas, clothing, and eating out/entertainment are way down. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78839919 United States 05/14/2020 07:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Worked one week past shut down (essential). Worked one week prior to PA reopening (essential). Waited 5 weeks in between to get Funemployment. Got it (3) days before I went back to work. In the mean time, I did a mediocre share of sidework (Carpenter). Prior to this I bought 4.5 acres that border my house, and a shop w/10k lbs lift 5 minutes from my house. No other debt. I had been saving for quite some time. I currently am about $20K in debt (I always used to strive to stay debt free). And hate the feeling. Not me at all. Striving to pay it off ASAP. I hate having a payment for anything besides utilities. So I am worse off, but back to work, collected Funemployment, and trying to do what side work I can. I need a year to get everything paid off and be comfortable again. I would be the person who closes in late Feb and early March on BOTH. |
