Last week, two men in a small neighborhood in Bartow County, Georgia, came to the rescue of an 86-year-old man who was being brutally beaten.
The elderly man’s attacker was armed with a metal pipe, local media reports.
According to one witness, the perp forced the victim, identified as Calvin Lee, out of his home and began assaulting him around 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
“He pulled him [Mr. Lee] out of his house and started beating him,” Lee’s neighbor Pauline Gravely told Fox5.
Two other neighbors, a father and a son, heard the cries for help from Mr. Lee and his wife.
They armed themselves and headed over to the residence to “intervene and stop the fight,” said Gravely.
The assailant, who has yet to be identified, did not yield. Instead, he physically confronted the two neighbors, punching one in the jaw while trying to grab a gun away from the other.
Fearing for their safety, the neighbors shot the perp twice, hitting him in the stomach and in the thigh.
The use of force stopped the violent attack on Mr. Lee and the two neighbors. The suspect was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Authorities told Fox5 that he will likely face charges for burglary, aggravated assault, and criminal trespass.
