That must have been the downpayment! In 2005, another payment of almost $300,000,000 was paid along with the assumption of debts owed the US citizens. Mexican nationals don't understand Treaties. A nation of Americans works it up for a century and a half, invests in it, pays taxes on it, develops infrastructure, cities and towns, and makes it what it is today. THEN along comes some peons who claim it was really theirs all along and think they have some kind of claim on it? Hahaha Sure just like that after all the work has been done. And oh yeah, now they're "indigenous" What a load. Reminds me of the Jamaicans who were claiming Indian rights at the CT casinos. |

And frankly, they're very resentful that the rest of the country is insisting that they break up towns, family farms and wildlife habitats for something that's not going to work anyway. (This is coming from the people who live in the US side.) It always worked and no one cared until the 1990s. What could have caused a change? Could it be NAFTA? No one here ever talks about how the multinationals, because of NAFTA, bought the farming land in Mexico and ran people off their land. No one talks about how American retirees moved to San Miguel Allende or Cabo San Lucas and increased the land value so much that the original people couldn't afford to live there any longer. |

The former silver city SMdA was in decline as a backwater village before tourism brought it back to some degree of prosperity. Cabo is situated on a desolate stretch of desert on the tip of the peninsula. Very picturesque for tourists but a wasteland for any kind of agriculture. You might be thinking of La Paz, however that is still an extreme desert climate with highly saline soils. Funny you pick two glitzy, touristy spots in setting up a straw man. Bet you got a tan and bought silver. |

I think it is the attitude of the illegals who come here and live off the backs of the taxpayers who pay for their medical treatment, education, welfare, and then expect to be equal with us as citizens. Adding insult to injury, they march carrying the flag of Mexico, demanding more and more rights. They refuse to assimilate and become one with us in learning to speak English and act civily, and threaten to take our country by violence! Why don't they use that brave speech and go back to Mexico and reclaim what was theirs when they know Spanish blood still bears rule there? They are chicken shits, that's why. . |

Unlike the original posted who sad to say is relying on wikipeda for historical guidance (this in itself should show how lame the poster is) the treaty was forced upon the meican country at the point of a gun. If anything this shows that the lands that were given are actually lands taken illegally and should be returned. Funny thing is that people will scream that this will never happen but the fact is that illegal immegration is already insured that this will happen wether americans like it or not. deal with it as white people in the united states unless they start breeding like rabbits got 25 years left before they simply do not matter anymore.
