Although her shopping cart law seems reasonable here, her logic as a Christian is flawed. She's making a false argument -- that if you don't do every small rule "correctly" then you must be faulty on the big things---and she claims she hears directly from God, thus setting herself up as the high priestess of all the "small rules." Constantly policing ourselves and others regarding hundreds of trivial details is a heavy and loveless burden, and can actually be very faith KILLING over time as we all turn into grim legalists and obnoxious Karens-- without forgiveness for ourselves, and without love for anyone. Faith is not spread by "Karens." People can end up terrified that they are going to hell for failing to return a shopping cart on any given day!!! This is soo wrong. Jesus doesn't work this way. More "laws" from Joyce Meyer: --If you don't put tons of makeup on every day you are not a "good ambassador" for God.-- LOL --If you don't wear trashy designer clothing with rhinestones, you are not a good ambassador for God. --If you don't do everything she says, you won't be successful like she is, selling God's word to become a multimillionaire. -- It is good to make jokes at the expense of your husband's dignity and force him to laugh on camera when you do. |

Yes, it's annoying to pull into a spot only to find a cart sitting there. I know, it's no big deal, I can get out and move it or find another spot, but why should I have to be inconvenienced? I think referring to them as animals and savages was for comic effect, I think they are simply inconsiderate. And nobody is trying to put cart retrievers out of work, but I doubt that is their only duty. If they were like ball retrievers at tennis tournaments rushing out after every dead ball, then there would be no problem. Fact is that cars get damaged when inconsiderate people don't return their carts. Last Edited by DEY HATE ME on 05/18/2020 10:12 AM The more I know, the crazier I appear to be. Quoting: Where Eagles Dare To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct. A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it. The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society. I've seen this same rant, word for word, online in several places. Where did you copy it from? |
