Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77027558 Take the cart to the parking lot collection area. That is all. There are too many people that are too lazy to even do that, though. If your new car ever got dinged by a runaway cart, you'd understand the reason for this thread. Haha, yes! My first car got dinged in a grocery parking lot by a runaway cart snd I remember one of the clerks saying it happened all the time. I was so full of righteous indignation (heh), I actually wrote to their corporate headquarters and got the damage covered, lol. Later, I went to law school, go figure. Bebe |

Quoting: Where Eagles Dare To return the shopping cart is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do. To return the shopping cart is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct. A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it. The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society. shut the fuck up you idiot every business pays people to gather shopping carts. it creates a job for someone to do. and you calling it 'the ultimate test of whether a person is good or evil' NOte: this is the same thing as sexual morality. you find some dubious moral thing and turn it into the 'ultimate morality' because it's a trick. sexual morality is a trick |

What’s that make you? Hmmmm? This thread is boring. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78703779 While I always bring the cart back, there was a time when an employee at a store was being very bizarre and following my fiance and I around the store, riding on a floor buffer machine, creepily staring at us as she went around and around, and her thing smelled of fish. Finally, after about 15x of passing us, we walked out without buying the stuff. I don't ever leave a cart in a parking lot, but creepy employees are just creepy. |

They just leave the carts beside the parking spot. Still wondering how a piggly wiggly cart ended up at my parking lot when the nearest piggly wiggly is like 90 mins away. |

The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society. They hire people to go retrieve the carts as a courtesy to the customers, so that the customers do not have to return the cart. You are trying to make a moral argument out of that? OP, should we also mop the floor on our way out? I mean , it might be morally irresponsible of us to leave dirt on the floor and make the grocery store hire someone to clean it up. Wrong. Cart retrievers get the carts from the stable and return them to the store. Leaving them in the middle of the parking lot is not only lazy, it's a reckless and blatant disregard for other people's property. Namely, their cars. How many roll into cars and dent them due to some ass leaving them in the lanes? "May your electricity go out a second before the shit hits the fan." -Conspiracy Theorist's Blessing |

Just get it out of peoples way or put in the cart returns. Workers still get paid to come get them. I'm not a people person but I'm sure I wouldn't want to hang out with someone who leaves carts in parking spots or on the grass. |
