Haha, once I dropped my basket on the ground and kicked it across the isle and left. It was Friday on my way home and they had two cashiers and a packed store. I do however return my cart, always.

They hire people to go retrieve the carts as a courtesy to the customers, so that the customers do not have to return the cart. You are trying to make a moral argument out of that?

OP, should we also mop the floor on our way out? I mean , it might be morally irresponsible of us to leave dirt on the floor and make the grocery store hire someone to clean it up.
