Re: ISS through my telescope this morning!
Can we pick random satellites for you to track, that way you could prove they're actually up there.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77848807

Sure, as long as they're visible above Florida and illuminated by the sun. I've already tracked a wide variety of satellites.

 Quoting: Astromut

I also think it would be cool to see any random satellite that you could track. It would be interesting to know what is flying over our heads. I would like to see what it looks like with the naked eye and then what it looks like through the telescope. Probably a lot of things we think are unexplained are in fact quite easily explained.

Still no sign of the balloon holding it up there, and it's still right in the orbit that it's supposed to be in. Damn strange.

It is not a balloon, it is swamp gas.

Re: ISS through my telescope this morning!
That kewl, I too have seen the ISS MAKE a pass over my house. Which I looked at with binoculars and it was abundantly clear that it was the ISS in orbit!
 Quoting: TP Broker

Have done the same many times.

I have posted this many times and never get any of the FE shills to try something so simple. They just want to say it's BS and CGI.

Just type in your zip code and pick a good flyover time. High power binoculars are best. Mine are 20-50x70

The ISS is as big a hoax as the globe. Research Flat Earth. Eric Dubay's work is a good place to start.

Can you zoom in using a Canon P100? If you can take a closeup of the moon with a P1000 camera, why not the ISS? Should be been more detailed even.

Isn't that what we are paying for? Is it possible to see any reflection off of the ISS when it is in the right position at the right time of day with the unaided eye?

What kind of equipment do you need to take that pic? Does it track it automatically?

I haven’t seen the ISS since last summer, but I enjoy watching it, especially when it’s at a good angle. The size is awesome.

Why would you expect to see stars with an effective focal length of 4 meters and an exposure speed of 1/640th of a second? You people are hilarious. And yeah I know what it takes to photograph clusters of stars...

Re: ISS through my telescope this morning!
How hard would it be to have a transparent balloon? I heard a guy talk about how these cgi images are added by digital telescopes that use tracking, ect. Seems like 1980's 2D holographic technology could impose that imagery onto a screen, I dunno looks fake to me!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26810388

Yup, I wrote the tracking software. It uses star trek style transporters to project CGI images into the telescope tube even though there's no way for the telescope's computer to project anything into the mirrors and corrector plate that it uses.
 Quoting: Astromut

Ok so you believe it's there. Now you can't disprove the transparent balloon theory.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26810388

Despite your attempts to make an unfalsifiable theory which isn't scientific by the way, I have falsified the theory that it's a balloon.

It's too high and too fast to be a balloon.

Ok so you believe it's there. Now you can't disprove the transparent balloon theory. I can't believe it would be that easy to trick you! You have no way to prove how far this thing is away without using digital equipment! The numbers can all be adjusted for you to 'think' it's that far away!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26810388

You didn't write the software for the Computer!!! How hard would it be for the computer to just add the image while it was recording!!! How hard could it be???
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26810388

I did write the software for the computer. The computer was also not connected to the main camera so it had to use a teleporter to send the fake images into the camera almost like magic!

Impressive stuff, if you wrote the program even more impressive. The tracking for something that far and small is for a schmuck not knowing any of the mechanics, seemingly impossible for a backyarder but we have folks building helicopters in their basement and rockets that they fly in. Crazy but cool.

Astro great stuff really clear in spots. What size of telescope would you reckon you would need to see an astronaut doing a spacewalk?

BTW Can I ask you what you thought of the movie "Gravity" with Cluney and Bullock? I have it on bluray and watching it on my largest wall (totally filled) in 3d it is great imo.

Was outside looking at the stars on Saturday night and the ISS flew directly over my home! It was really cool. I see satellites all the time but the ISS was very bright so I ran inside and looked on SkyView on my phone and sure enough it was the ISS.
