Martha McSally losing ground to Mark Kelly and that's not even the bad news "Trumper Martha McSally, appointed Arizona senator, just sent me an email calling opponent Mark Kelly a Chinese dupe without naming him. Putin and Xi must be laughing -- a retired AF Colonel calling a retired USN Captain & NASA astronaut a commie." [link to twitter.com (secure)] |

Martha McSally losing ground to Mark Kelly and that's not even the bad news Trump’s campaign team was meeting with the president at the White House to discuss the state of play in a handful of battleground states. Toward the end of the meeting, Trump pulled McConnell, who was at the White House to meet with him on another matter, into the Roosevelt Room. The discussion turned to Arizona, where recent polling has shown both Trump and McSally trailing. Trump himself said he was concerned about McSally, according to three people familiar with the discussion. His political advisers told McConnell about recent survey numbers in Arizona and stressed she was losing to Democrat and former astronaut Mark Kelly. McConnell appeared to stand by the senator, noting that it’s only May and the election is still a ways off, people familiar with the meeting said. A White House spokesperson declined to comment, as did a Trump reelection spokesperson. [link to www.politico.com (secure)] |

Martha McSally losing ground to Mark Kelly and that's not even the bad news New fox news poll today: The Arizona poll found Biden leading Trump 46 percent to 42 percent. Trump won Arizona by 4 points in 2016. The Grand Canyon State has gone for the Democratic presidential nominee only once in the past 70 years, but it has become more purple since 2018 as suburban voters in the densely populated areas around Phoenix have gravitated away from the GOP. The survey also found Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) trailing her Democratic challenger Mark Kelly by 13 points. In 2018, Kyrsten Sinema became the first Democratic senator from Arizona in more than two decades. The Arizona Senate race is a critical contest that could determine the balance of power in the chamber as Democrats seek to win back a majority. [link to thehill.com (secure)] |
