Just saw this thread, CG. You've been through it, girlfriend!

Sounds like the worst is behind you.

Now, give yourself permission to REST.
You deserve it. Don't push things. Get kitty and do some serious couch time.

Will be praying for you....hf

Yes, Lil She snuggled up so close to me today while laying down. I was petting her and she turned her head around and bit me....it's her way, she does that....rolleyes

I was so not in the mood for it, though. Her little teeth hurt, and I've had enough hurt for a spell. I told her no, and she gave me one of those looks she gives, ya know the spirited kitteh look, and I told her to step off. She got up, and then started to come at me again....harhar, the little shit.

I sat up, and that made her run off. She didn't want to fuck with me right then, and she knew it.

Did you know I love-love my little crap monster kitteh so very much?....harhar.

Really, I do....but she is a little stinker and a half....ohyeah

TB scarring, any possible respiratory compromise -so it’s all in order, lots of bowel obstructions require surgery. Need a current cxr n bloodwork to type n cross match before any surgery.

The morphine you were given causes bowel obstruction
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77222658

No, it causes constipation. I have taken care of that before I get or got backed up.

I had "movement" this morning.....goodnews

The obstruction was not about me being constipated, ffs.
 Quoting: cosmicgypsy

I thought a symptom of a bowel obstruction was the inability to have a bowel movement or pass gas.
Interesting...
Hope you are doing ok hf

And I have felt better today. My muscles in my torso aren't as sore. I still can't stand up completely erect, though. It pulls on my tummy too much. I've slept in the fetal position.

I had to go out this morning - HAD TO - and the drive was a little rough. I felt it in my tummy, the pressure, just from accelerating....and the bumps in the roads....gaah

But I got done what I had to. I got me some organic Pedialyte Wild Berry flavor, boy howdy that's tasty. My appetite is shot. I lost two pounds the first day of the obstruction, and it's three days later now...I will lose 5-10 lbs before this is all over.

I don't want to eat food, just no appetite, but I did a cup of chicken broth today and the Pedialyte and water. I'm darn sure I'm hydrated....chuckle

Heh, I've taken off work until Tuesday. This one is being a lot to recover from, more than the ones over two years ago...but I'm in great spirits....flower

Me, too. I had thought I was finished with them....well, given the inner muscle relaxer that works so well, I thought I was finished.

I had a cat, my Easter kitty, who was a little healer. She would put her paw on people and close her eyes like she was meditating and purr loudly while I was doing Reiki on them.

When I took my Usui Master level attunement, she laid underneath my chair, on her back. Heh, the attuner told me, "Welp, now we've got to do you. Your cat just took that attunement." We got a two fer one!.....1rof1

She really was something else. It just about killed me when she spirited onto elsewhere. I cried like a baby for three days.

This one I have now?....she's a little crap monster. I love her to bits despite her crap monsteriness. She is mellowing a bit with age. She's only 3 1/2 years old. I also believe she had been abused before landing on my door as a kitten. Sad to say.

She's a wild one...and not too much unlike me, save for I like people and don't shred them, harhar, at least not physically....chuckle

Re: In the ER with a bowel obstruction, so why are they imaging my chest?
I've been in this place before (BO, hospital, surgery, etc.). Funny thing is, the last time I was in this ER for all this BO crappola, they did not image my chest.

Now, I've had 4 mgs of morphine, and even I know the chest has so little to do with the small intestine.

The CAT Scan tech was cool, though. A patriot and boy howdy, he'd make a kickass GLPer.

And believe you me, if I wasn't in such dire shape, I never would've come to a hospital. I tried riding the obstruction out, but almost 20 hrs with it wore me out. The pain, the puking....it just got overwhelming.

Anyway, if you have to go to the ER, be prepared to have your chest x-rayed, even if it's a broken foot you have.

And please be nice, I've had a really rough day.

Re: In the ER with a bowel obstruction, so why are they imaging my chest?
I would probably hate to have a blocked colon. Nothing feels better than taking a big dirty shit. One of those ones that just blasts out, and leave you feeling 5 pounds lighter. You feel like you're floating on a cloud, and you know there isn't so much as a kernel of corn left in there. So empty that you have to do your belt up another notch. That's a great feeling.

I hope you feel like that soon OP.

Take a LOT of vitamin C! At least 4 grams and as many as 10. Use buffered powdered C rather than straight ascorbic acid, or neutralize with baking soda. It will make really loose stools - lots of wet drippy shit. It will tend to reduce the obstruction so your emergency gets reduced to a nuisance.

Didn't get to end of this thread, but I assume they want to exclude colon cancer that has spread.

I'm going to a gastro specialist this coming Wednesday to address the obstructions and to get moving on a colonoscopy and endoscopy....but don't think I WANT to do those. I don't. But I have to at this point....although throughout my issues with it, no one has suggested cancer, thankfully....well, actually that's not true. The surgeon who did the resection in 2018 told me before the surgery that there is most often a tumor involved in the type of BO I was having. There was no tumor....more gratitude.

I suppose I'll know soon enough. Docs aren't as busy now, so I probably get a fast appt to do those two procedures. Now that I've made up my mind to do them, the sooner the better. I could chicken out....rolleyes

I don't want to do them. I'm concerned they're going to tear something, or cut something out and release cancer seeds, or any of the other problems that can occur.

I'm not constipated, and I wasn't constipated when it occurred....but good information to know.

Pfht, I'm not even eating enough to make waste, methinks.

I lost two pounds on Tuesday, and I'm sure I've lost more since. I've had one piece of toast and chicken broth since being home. I have no appetite, and I want to take it easy on my digestive tract.

I lost 30 lbs in the four months I was having nine of those really bad boys.

Heh, I may just whither away....tounge

Because am sure it’s now hospital guidelines to ensure/rule out any congestion due to the fear paranoia of covid-19

Yes, I knew what it was for, you know what it was for, anyone can figure out what it was for.....save for the tech administering the x-ray.
