Redemption for what?

I spent decades trying to get the bits of humanity I met to show one bit of humanity themselves - one single iota of self-preservation, common sense, or care for themselves or others. I mean, I really tried. I kick started it, I showed them how step by step, I tried raising them from eggs.

I gave them so many chances to learn how to fly and make this world something worth preserving, by them.

They never learned.

They learned to fake it, mind you. Fake compassion to look like a good person, fake causes that no one puts enough care into to actually have the intended result, etc.

But genuine humanity?

Nah, bro. I failed, I admit my failure. I admit I was never and will never be a good enough teacher.

And that is all I can do.

Because, fuck it, I tried.
