"This Is The End Of Hong Kong": China Congress Announces Crackdown On Hong Kong With New "National Security" Law

While the United States has limited leverage with China over Hong Kong, it could be cut off if the Trump administration determines that the Sino-British Joint Declaration, which was supposed to give the territory 50 years of special status after it reverted to Chinese rule, has been violated.

During an interview on Fox Business Network on Friday, Hassett claimed the damage that would come from China's proposal would be mostly self-inflicted.

“They’re going to see a lot of economic harm from what they’re doing,” he said, adding that businesses would not want to invest or keep money “in a place where they’re basically sneering at the rule of law.”

“And so, I would expect that they’re going to have serious capital flight problems,” Hassett said. “And Hong Kong, if they follow through this, will no longer be the financial center of Asia, and they themselves will bear very, very heavy costs.”

I'm certainly not a China fan but it seems the U.S.A. never learns?

They fomented these violent Hong-Kong protests giving China a foot in the door to take it over for "public safety" - did the U.S.A. think China would let this go on? People in Hong Kong are sick of getting gasoline thrown on them and set alight and all of the other great stuff that these millenial pawn protesters are involved in. Hong Kong probably could have had 10 more years of special status if the U.S.A. had not screwed around over there!

The U.S.A. did this exact same thing by fomenting an overthrow in Ukraine in 2014 thereby giving Russia a golden opportunity to waltz in and take the entire Crimean peninsula with ease + some other places.

The planners in the U.S.A. seem to be convinced of their own invulnerability but sadly nobody else is. Why in the world do they keep playing the failed regime change card when it has such a bad recent track record?

Ha Ha sure no mention of the millions of people of Hong Kong who expected China to honor its deal with the British at the hand over signing. They expected to live with the basic freedoms they have had their entire lives but China is trying to take that away and go against the agreement. These people of Hong Kong have a right to rebel and resist tyranny.

Again, I don't like China one bit. But you know from the outset that China wants to control it and is guaranteed it eventually will. That is a done deal even if everything went perfectly to the agreement.

But the brainiacs in D.C. decide to organize a bunch of extremely violent millenials, fund them, and invite them for publicity trips to the white house. They go downtown and destroy buildings, loot shops, beat old chinese people, smash their heads in with bricks, and light them on fire - and this is supposed to help delay the eventual Chinese takeover?!?! It is the perfect excuse to roll in the tanks! By the time this is over the populace will be begging for PLA stability and will just be glad it is over.

China isn't some broken down little middle east country that can be easily toppled - how can you not get that?
