Were you a nerd in high school? | |

I didn't want to be hassled, which meant fighting mostly blacks, sometimes gauntlet style. I met up with 3 guys that had similar interests and socioeconomic backgrounds. We became a force to be reckoned with, which ended the black issue. That left those singular incidents with guys hitting on my girl or just being ignorantly aggressive. Average "B and "C" grades. Senior year (final year of trade school) dropped out of HS but continued in trade school, was awarded a placement in a local shop to earn a man's wage, made more money than most of my HS grad contemporaries. It was amazing having plenty of money to spend, something new to me. Later, after marriage went back and picked up the GED. There were times I came to the Nerd's defense. Those guys never bothered anyone, they were just trying to make it through the day, like I was. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74982081 I was. For some reason, the girls were always trying to get to know me better. I was too shy, though, and practically drove them away. Idiot. I was a depressed kid at high school. 98% Latino and black school who would always start crap and disrupt the entire school curriculum somehow. Yes, this is California. I've watched first hand how immigration destroys everything. I've watched first hand how SJW policies destroys everything it touches. I've watched first hand anti-white administrators try to stomp you every turn. It wasn't after I started my own business things went way better for me and got my engineering degree abroad. Now I run a business with 250 employees. I still live in California, ironically, but I refuse to give up my home to these people. |

But I wasn't rejected by any group either (individuals sure...but not groups). I could talk with them all. I took alot of shit...but that's just high school...everyone does. If I am going to be damned...I am going to be damned for who I really am! |

Actually many of the most intelligent people do best learning on their own, primarily because the things they tend to gravitate towards learning are things of pressing interest to their ambitions, and not a bunch of totally useless information and abilities. For instance, in 40 years since learning them, I have never used a classic novel to solve any problem BUT reading one and being required to remember it DID waste large portions of my memory. .In fact I've never encountered a situation where a liberal arts knowledge did help me solve a problem, but on the other hand Mathematics, Trigonometry and Geometry are knowledge many require in their chosen professions and everyone can use in every day life. |

If I liked the classes and/or the teachers, I did well, if not, I didn't do anything lol Had a lot of friends, had fun every day "It's a friendly friendly world" (Andy Kaufman) Calm seas do not a sailor make, Nor easy horses, a horseman. And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower and when He could be certain only drowning men could see Him- Leonard Cohen |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78048685 Finland 05/25/2020 07:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wasn't bad at sports. I just didn't care about it. I read fiction like crazy and excelled at maths, physics and computers. I sucked at chemistry, because it required you to memorize reactions and rote learning was never my thing. Playing roleplaying games completed my nerd status. Girls? Perhaps I was a bit shy, but indifferent would be a more accurate description. Sure I had a sex drive, but watching my friends jumping through virtual flaming hoops to get some convinced me that it could and should wait. And wait I did. First through my single-minded pursuit of college degrees and then the career-building. Finally I got laid at 37 and got married. I was right. It could wait. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77525973 United States 05/25/2020 07:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | DEATHLY afraid of computer nerd???? Sadly, yes. Columbine happened when I was a sophomore. I was into the same games, music, culture that they were, without the mental illness they shared. Quiet, loner kid from broken home, who enjoyed computers, played DOOM in class, listened to the same music, and wore a full length leather trench coat for my walks to school in cold weather, for years beforehand without issue. Then the massacre happened and the kids and administrators suddenly took notice. Taunts, threats, increased paranoia wherever I went. Police searches of my bags and locker. Yes, they were VERY afraid at the time. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78942873 United States 05/25/2020 08:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Too nerdy for the rough crowd, too rough for the nerdy crowd. It was a sport for the teachers to rack up the most ass paddlings. One had a huge aluminum paddle with many holes in it. He would show it to you, prance around with it to intimidate you and scare the crap out of you. Then after you were bent over, head bent upward to look at the lights, he would switch to Old Hickory, the wooden board. Aluminum paddle was named, Sting-a-ree. They named their weapons and made kids sign their names on them after the beating. Sometimes they would tap you on the butt, to warm you up. Then when it looks like you're getting the first whack, teacher smacks the file cabinet. If you flinched, you got an extra whack or two. Fun times. |
