It's not called cdc dot GOV because it's not controlled by the federal government. The CDC Foundation is an "independent", non-government entity. No idea why there's a CDC Foundation.

When someone is so ridiculously successful that they have more money coming in than they could possibly spend or give away, that's when they form a foundation to help them appear charitable. Henry Ford comes to mind. It's a tax dodge, of course. It gives some of their buddies very cush jobs. And remember, when you've got a million coming in every single week, rain or shine, you can afford to do this kind of stuff.

The CDC itself gets its funding from its generous uncle. No one's going to starve working there, and I doubt if they turn lights off in empty rooms. But while GS-15 work will lease a Lexus or two and you probably won't have to shop at Aldi, it won't make you a multi-millionaire in 10 years. Maybe the CDC Foundation is their scheme to enhance their meager salaries by begging for donations to benefit them. 'Cause healthcare workers are our heroes, you know. Snort.
