A month ago I was shopping on Long Island without a mask and no one hassled me although I got a few stares.

It's getting tougher now. Last time I made the mistake of going when it was crowded instead of first thing in the morning. Lots of people saw me but no one said anything until two managers cornered me when I was almost done and said I was making people uncomfortable. Asked me to leave the store.

I showed them the executive order that allows for a medical exemption - the mask is NOT mandatory in NY according to Exec. Order 202.17.

They didn't care. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

I had a mask in my pocket just in case. I had a cart full of items and didn't want to leave and face the same situation at another store. So I put it on to finish shopping.

What I do now is go in with the mask on but below my chin so I can breathe. At a glance I have a mask unless you are looking closely. If anyone is staring or gets too close, I pull it up, then pull it back down again when out of range. I go up to the register with the mask down and nothing is said.

Hey, the sign says "No mask, no service." I have a mask. Doesn't say I have to cover my nose and mouth with it...
