This morning, I was having flashbacks of the Shuttle Challenger disaster. Did you have a similar sense back then? No, it was a complete surprise and shock. Then maybe it's just triggered memory. Maybe. I believe it was 1983, my Dad was working at Rockwell and got some passes for viewing the Challenger landing at Edwards AFB. Myself and a couple of friends arrived the night before and spent the night on the dry lake bed. We viewed the landing the next morning. It was awesome. President Reagan was there. While waiting to leave (with 100,000 other people) we viewed the Columbia taking off atop a 747, heading to FLorida. It had just been built. I had no idea on that day that I had seen two Space Shuttles that were ultimately doomed. This morning, I was having flashbacks of the Shuttle Challenger disaster. well this ship has a launch escape system to protect the capsule But no escape system is good when you have an immediate, catastrophic failure such as was the case with case with Challenger, dumbshit. actually they said if their [sic] is an explosion on the pad the entire capsule ejects and internal thrusters take over That's obviously not what happened with Challenger and it would also not happen if there was a catastrophic fuel or oxidizer tank rupture and ignition on the pad. You're an uneducated idiot...just stop. |
