It's like 1 - 2 weeks for PRIME now..

fuck that

I'm canceling it.
 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

Cancel? then what are you going to do? who will you order from?
 Quoting: Ithacagurl Sedai

I cancelled Prime because the membership cost more than saved shipping costs.
You can still order from Amazon. Many sellers on Amazon offer fast shipping FREE. I haven't had any problems with reasonably fast delivery - meaning 3-5 days.
Ebay is also a good choice. I find items there sometimes cheaper than Amazon, and with free shipping - usually 3-5 days.
Walmart is good also, but you have to meet a minimum order requirement for free shipping.

I have been a prime member of amazon for years. Just for the free shipping and two day delivery. The videos are a bonus but I do watch some of them.

Like everywhere else. Everything is delayed. What is your experience in shipping delays?

The worst one which I ordered on the On the 1st of April will not arrive till June 11th. Guess what it was Toilet paper. But not normal size rolls these are 9inch rolls. I kid you not. We use them at the Legion Post. And I needed to reorder.

Two day delivery has gone by the wind. A week is bare minimum these days.

I realize these are terrible times and we all have to suffer and deal with circumstances. But I paid for 2 day delivery with Prime.

What are your experiences?

lots of stuff delayed and delivery dates are sometimes given 2-3 weeks out for PRIME stuff that should be 2-3 days max. I stopped ordering from them almost entirely. frustrating but also it gives me a break from amazon and now i've been shopping elsewhere

I will never pay for Prime. I'm almost never in a rush to receive my packages and they tend to be delivered in about 4-5 days anyway. Plus I don't really watch videos, no Netflix or anything else either.

Re: amazon prime members? extreme late delivery or on time.
I’ve had Amazon Prime since 2009. It was only bad — late/delayed shipments for us in April. Now everything is back to either one or two day shipping. Even if I order Prime Pantry it’s usually here in three days, although I just schedule most things for curbside pickup locally. No, I’m not ready to rush back out. We have friends who are nurses/respiratory therapists. Heard first hand accounts of Covid patients. Had an outbreak at a church down the street from us where even the pastor died and our son is a fireman/EMT. Since I am diabetic (even if it is well controlled), we’ll just continue to be cautious. So Prime it is — which fortunately is working well again — or curbside pickup. But, each to their own.

You're one of the assholes I have to take 4-5 packages every 2 days to.

Sincerely, your underappreciated overworked mail carrier
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75173234

You most likely don't work in the delivery/mail industry and are just stiring shit. But if you do, that "asshole" is helping keep you a job.

Though if you're USPS you're probably not delivering them 4-5 packages every 2 days because probably like 95% of the shit I order of amazon is delivered by amazon themselves or a subcontractor. It's maybe once every 2 or 3 months that an amazon package comes though USPS/FedEx/UPS.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74836369

Really now? Drive to your local post office, put up a lawn chair and watch us carriers organize the mountains of Amazon packages into delivery order on the parking lot. You'll see exactly how much Amazon goes through the usps. Memorial day I had 120 stops with some thing like 135 packages.

I deliver shit for Amazon sometimes...but I do every company really..

Atm is random as...

Just yesterday I delivered to a customer that said: "oh wow, that was quick, wasnt expecting that for a month"

And you get other people angry because the parcel is 1 day delayed.

I ordered some health products... they took almost 2 months to arrive... but ordered some toys for my dog and they arrived in 2 days.

To me it seems most things are 3-5 days.

Also depends on size of parcels... expect big ones to be delayed as its not worth it to your courier, I delay all the big ones as much as 3-4 days simply because logic.

A big parcel might take the same room as 50+ smaller parcels, I get paid around $2 to deliver that big ass parcel... but I would get around $60 to do the 50 smaller ones...

Big parcels always stay behind until I have the room ;)

Re: amazon prime members? extreme late delivery or on time.
Lately it's been pretty normal. Some things I've purchased did have pretty long deliver dates (even with prime) however everything I purchased that did have a long delivery date did ship much earlier than they advertised it shipping pre sale.

For example I purchased something April 20th. It said it would be delivered May 14th. It actually ended up shipping on April 28th.

So I wouldn't let a long deliver date scare you off.

Re: amazon prime members? extreme late delivery or on time.
I live in Fort Worth, and, we have several warehouses in this area.

Our stuff is ontime. Hubby just ordered 2 wireless phone charger things and they'll arrive tomorrow. I ordered a computer charger and it also will arrive tomorrow.

I think it has to do with proximity to warehouses, also.

Afterthought, Here Amazon has its own delivery trucks- seemingly everywhere.

I suspect that it takes longer if they are using the post office, but, since they have their own trucks here, there is no reason for it to do so.
 Quoting: ladulce

Yeah, Dallas here. Same. No problems with deliveries. I haven’t got but one Amazon package in the mail all year. I was surprised because they are usually delivered by a truck or someone in a car.

How big of a delivery area is your normal?

If sparsely populated area and it is 1/2 to 1 mile or more between homes I"m not sure if fuel costs are even recovered at that rate.

For a part time job, maybe just to get out of the house.

A more suburban area my be cost effective, depending on wear and tear and mileage costs.
