Milk in plastic jugs freezes and defrosts just fine. Tastes way better than the UHT long life milk (which instantly disappeared in the UK along with pasta and flour - then became rationed...)

Only need a rooster if your going to make fertile eggs for chicks, otherwise a hen lays an egg that isn't fertile about every other day.
I get 12-14 eggs a day from my girls.
I don't like the idea of eating fertile eggs so my rooster stays in his own pen until early spring when I want chicks

Once mated a hen will stay fertile for about 2 weeks.
The rooster goes back to his pen.

You know about the arsenic issue with US grown rice don't you? Non-organic brown rice grown in the old cotton producing states has the highest level of inorganic arsenic. White rice was found to contain lower levels. That's why California grown rice is in high demand and mostly sold out in stores, the rice fields in CA were never used to grow cotton.
