Tourism. The time for containing the virus is near end. There's no way they can open global travel any time in the near future. Containment failed in most places. Contaminated countries wont be allowed in anywhere.

I think that tourism will experience a rewind. Instead of these fandango social media-worthy vacations, we'll go back to the way tourism used to be - get in the car, go to a place that's far but isn't too far away, get a motel room, and grill some burgers, dogs, and/or chicken on the grill outside, served with macaroni salad and coleslaw. And might I say that this won't be a bad thing.

Re: What jobs or line of work will never be the same again?
I am a fashion enthusiast. To relax I browse online retailers. I began to notice during the auarantine that women’s fashion was changing. Becoming far less fashionable as simultaneously, fashion retailers began to go out of business.

Also I noticed a flood of ads and websites selling cheap women’s fasion from China. Big blowsy ugly clothes. No popular trends, good colors or tailored shapes. A lot of funky weird stuff. Also included are lots of really ugly shoe designs.

It began to be difficult and boring. I was having to go outside my usual sources looking for anything that might be a little more chic and exciting. I saw that amazon, macys and nordstrom were all going downhill with their offerings.

What if these bankrupt retailers were given to Chinese creditors? It looks like maybe that’s happening. They come in and use the retailer’s website as an outlet for all the cheap shitty ugly clothing they make.

I used to shop in Germany to get something different and better than what I could find in the USA. Surprisingly German clothes aren't that expensive but high quality and way ahead of the times. I used to always get compliments by other women and they asked where I bought the clothes I was wearing from.

Manufacturing will be bots, Admin will go to 'the Elite' and the rest fight for table scraps.
The 'rebel underground hemp industry' could prevent a lot of the hardship the poor are destined to see. (not just for the edibles this time) Community gardens will replace 'going to the cottage/lake for vacations'.
Personally I see this as being the best way to travel (different paint for sure) the Interstates so you fly over the 'heavy traffic' below. 300mph and the 'on ramp' will be the 'above ramp'. (along with mandatory auto-pilot)

Work from home should be the norm, especially for school studies and self taught hobbies, like earth science and metallurgy.
I favor the 'elected' being the first group that is 'chipped' as they do it to show there is nothing for 'law abiding citizens' to fear, only low-lifes need to fear being tracked that closely.

Re: What jobs or line of work will never be the same again?
Teaching. I know that a few states are talking about opening up (saw something about Texas getting schools re-opened and some place, maybe Montana, that has been re-opened) but the reforms that states are proposing are not feasible. No district has the money to hire the teachers necessary to enforce 6 ft. of space between students; no school has the room to accommodate 6 ft. of space for 30+ students in a classroom; so classes will be staggered or take place on alternating days, which brings its own set of problems: what about poor people? what do working poor and middle class parents do when Johnny goes to school M and Th, but they have to work M-F? What does Shaniqua do when she's in school on T, F, but her sister in middle school has to go M and W, and her brothers in elementary school have to go M, Th, and their guardian has to work? Not only do people not have more legitimate respect for education, but by demonstrating that it was possible to take face-to-face learning immediately (like, over a weekend) to the internet through Zoom and Google classroom, teachers have not demonstrated our national value...instead, we have inadvertently shown that we are replaceable and that we can do more with less physical space and therefore with less money. Make no mistake, we won't be getting raises from this. It will be something that will be an excuse to keep our wages stagnant or drop them.

Furthermore, as working poor families realize that their kids won't get a free and equal education, people are going to stop sending their kids to school. Will private schools benefit? Not with tuition that families can't pay. Homeschooling? Not when parents and guardians have to return to work.

Oh, yeah, who in the flying f--k will want to become a teacher in this environment? We already get mediocre students enrolled in teacher education programs. We already have programs that have shut down due to declining enrollment numbers. Teaching will be less desirable, we will have to do more online teaching because of fears of contamination/student safety which will lead to new teachers and old teachers leaving the professions, driving more of what we do online and lowering our pay in the process...all of which will serve to diminish our importance in society and our ability to attract competent professionals to make sure our jobs don't disappear. New teachers won't be able to adjust to the emotional demands of this new environment, and people with 20+ years won't be comfortable enough with technology to embrace online learning. We'll lose our best classroom teachers and we'll have a bunch of people who are experienced but jaded.

I'm glad that I'm not a student, but I'm kind of terrified as a parent...education the next few years is going to be a joke. College and secondary, our system is going to create morans who don't know jackshit about anything and even if they did, where are they going to work after our economy is ruined?

Oh ELE asteroid, where are you when we need you?...FML!

Both.

Italy is too fancy for my taste. But they do know how to dress.
