I don't think that's a shadow,
it's a second object.

The picture-right spots are possibly shadows being cast by the picture-left objects in orbit.

Perspectivally, I have difficulty believing that the shadows would be as similar in size to the objects casting them.

The sun's rays, for all intents and purposes, are parallel... and therefore those rays should converge toward the vanishing point of the shadow rays... making the shadow appear much smaller on the picture plane.

tl/dr... I think the "shadows" are other objects like the one on the picture-left side of the frame.
