If this was the case, we'd have seen a drastic increase of anxiety and addiction over the same time period. Though, when taking a look at the numbers, it appears, alcohol would be the main contributor to those symptoms. 19.7 Million Americans reported battling substance abuse in 2017, of those, 74% were struggling with alcohol. 5.1 million young adults are battling substance abuse, 3.4 million of those had an alcohol abuse disorder. 2.5 million reported a "substance abuse" disorder, which could be a number of things - including marijuana. As a self proclaimed marijuana lab rat, I've been smoking marijuana / concentrates for the past 17 years. The longest I have gone without smoking is 1.5 months (January-February 2020) to prove (to myself) that marijuana was not addictive. I exhibited zero withdrawal effects, due to supplementing my marijuana "addiction" with exercise. Plus, with all these awesome strains that get you high in 1 hit, the only thing OP is complaining about is the fact that you have to spend LESS money to get HIGHER these days. If you're looking for the weed of yesteryear, I guarantee the local dispo or drug dealer has some shitty mids they'd be happy to get rid of for cheap. But, as with all industries, supply and demand commands the market. No one wants mids, no one wants that shitty brown weed from the 70's. |

I'm sure these people you speak of are stupid. Oh well... I'm smoking a joint as I read and write this. If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it. |

If you’re thinking of returning to the weed of your youth to ease the strain of the pandemic, you will soon discover a potent truth — today’s weed is nothing like yesterday’s. Use of weed of any strength has been linked to mental health disorders, and lab experiments have shown that higher does of THC can cause greater memory impairment and temporary psychotic-like symptoms. But few studies have examined how potency levels may affect behavior in real-world populations. A new study, published Wednesday in the journal JAMA Psychiatry, surveyed more than 1,000 UK residents who reported marijuana use in the past year. The study found high-potency weed users appear to have a significant increase in the likelihood of developing generalized anxiety disorder than those who smoke less robust strains of marijuana. In addition, high-potency weed users are more likely to use weed at least once a week, twice as likely to have used illicit drugs within the past 12 months, and more than three times as likely to be tobacco smokers, according to the study which was published Wednesday in the journal JAMA Psychiatry. [link to fox8.com (secure)] The study: Users of high-potency cannabis four times more likely to report associated problems Users of high-potency cannabis are four times more likely to report associated problems, and twice as likely to report anxiety disorder, than users of lower-potency strains, according to new research from the University of Bristol. High potency, for them, is too much.... Some people should not be weed smokers. Some people shouldn't drink alcohol. High calorie foods lead to obesity. Too much coffee makes it harder to sleep. How about.... Let people live....and make their own decisions.... If they fuck up their life so be it. Stop trying to dictate what people can or cannot do. |

The "Silver Haze" could incapacitate you for hours. You could trip harder on some strains they made than on LSD. This article is also basically useless from a scientific standpoint. What is "high potency"? How much THC, how many other psychoactive components are taken into account? There were no numbers offered during my cursory glance. I think the weed is weak now because it's grown indoors. That great Humboldt Co. weed received direct sunlight. I bet there's magic in those rays, magic to leave you in a silver haze... |

The Thai Bhudda Sticks from the seventies far excelled the hydro shit that does the rounds these days and I would give my left tit to get some of that shit here in Oz for a god damned change.
