You have a very simple and ignorant understanding of what a 'nurse' is. Sounds like you are a little confused between an orderly and a nurse. Nurses do deal with the things you mentioned above, but that is only a small, small, minute part of their overall job responsibilities. Nursing and medicine are two completely different professions with different educational pathways so one cannot outrank another either anymore than a microbiologist and a physical therapist "outrank" or are "subservient" to the other. They are just two completely different things.

It is not a small part of 12 hour shift nurse on a hospital floor. The things I mentioned are majority duties of a large percentage of nurses across the globe. The large percentage of nurses are the shift nurses that care for the patient placed in hospitalization.

I forgot IV, Inserting a urinary catheter, vaccine administration, administration of medicine and feeding into g tube, relieving blockage in trachea and asking patient questions. Calling the on call doctor for medication. I covered 80 percent of nurses duties in these two post.

The point to the rise I was replying to was his head was limp and most likely his tongue was blue. Relieving himself.

He was gone and the first responders already knew this. Hence putting him stretcher and placing him in ambulance.

All first responders have been given orders not to perform mouth to mouth due to covid 19

90% of a nurse's time goes on assessments, drip titrations, order sets, telemetry interpretation, labs, information management, and prioritization in order to avoid errors that could land her ass in jail. With a 6 patient load she will lose 50 minutes out of EVERY hour on that stuff. That right there is the majority of her duties.

She has to squeeze the additional things you mentioned into the other 10 minutes. And we didn't add in dressing changes, skin care, family members and patients not grasping she has a 6 patient load and attempting to monopolize her time on what they are fixated on; thus putting her license and the lives of her other patients in huge danger.

Physicians make a diagnosis and click out an order set. They have no accountability and liability for any of the other things going on.
