Simply put, Active Duty military cannot enforce the law of the land.

I served in the 82nd, and cannot imagine a deployment against US citizens, even though I strongly disagree with the looting bullshit.

Now, if their group, Antifa or whatever, is designated a terrorist group, that may open them up to military action. I don't know.

I was under the same impression as you, but then I did some quick research. There is an exemption to Posse Comitatuts for cases of civil unrest.

Since around 911 much has changed I can not remember the exact amount but somewhere between 12-20K
also insurrection act of 1800+/- also allows for deployment.

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a United States federal law (10 U.S.C. §§ 251–255)[1] (until 2016, found at 10 US Code, Chapter 15, §§ 331–335, renumbered to 10 USC, Chapter 13, §§ 251–255) that governs the ability of the President of the United States to deploy military troops within the United States to put down lawlessness, insurrection, and rebellion. The general purpose is to limit presidential power, relying on state and local governments for initial response in the event of insurrection. Coupled with the Posse Comitatus Act, presidential powers for federal military law enforcement on U.S. soil and unincorporated territories are limited and delayed.

The vastly more important aspect of the declaration is NOT to allow direct military involvement via deployment with weapons.

It is to give legal authorization to utilize the vast surveillance apparatus against them. They will know exactly who is talking to whom.

FISA goes both ways.

Posse Comitatus only applies to the regular Army and the Air Force. Look it up. A stroke of the pen and those forces can be transferred to the national guard or the air national guard to get around it.

Re: Did I miss the repeal of the Posse Comitatus Act???
I may be mistaken, but in 2010 Obama passed an executive order that subverted Posse Comitatus

[link to billslinksandmore.com (secure)]

“On January 11, 2010, President Obama signed Executive Order (EO) 13528 (PDF) — right after the over-hyped Flight 253 ‘terrorist’ attack, the fraudulently engineered Swine Flu pandemic and a few other man-made disasters — that, among other things, establishes a Council of Governors, chosen by the President who, as noted by the Intel Daily, will rubber-stamp long-sought-after Pentagon contingency plans to seize control of state National Guard forces in the event of a ‘National Emergency.’”
