That's the mating call of a fox or one in distress like if surrounded by coyotes.

It does sound like a woman screaming bloody murder though, freaked me out the first time I heard it years ago.

They call it the "Vixen's Screech".

Most do it in short bursts, but some do these long drawn out ones that sound freaky.

I occasionally hear the fox screams here in Oregon, and they sound really freaky, especially if you're out camping in the wilderness at night.

Interesting. Last night while i was working i kept hearing what sounded like screams... i work in a noisy factory environment and was the only one there basically.

I turned off all equipment and the noise subsided. Went outside and could hear faint screams.

There was nobody around for 1/4 mile

Some said she was still screeching to this day. Guess she moved to Texas

That is some really creepy shit. Sounds like wailing from the sky. Sounds like this have been heard all around the world for several years now - I think like 10 years. I have to wonder if this is about the shift in the magnetic poles.

The weather here in Mass has been very very strange. Last night it went down to 38 degrees here 30 miles west of Boston. I have never seen a temp like that in JUNE.

I shared this with my brother and he said hes heard it before call my he said it is owl screeching. Even found a wildlife video and at the end you can hear the owls making the same sound. They also fly high up in the sky at night looking for prey on the ground.
