Quoting: TGus Maybe we can’t get “nicer” police, but we don’t need nicer police. What we need is police that either stop a crime, take a report, or restrain suspects for trial, acting on the principle of assumed innocence until proven by a jury to be found guilty, -and actually acting that way toward suspects. Peaceful protests against police brutality have never caused the police or their departments to act any more humanely toward suspects. And rioting only reinforces the police’s “get tough” stance. So, what works? If we don’t pay our municipal taxes in protest, we risk losing the homes we own or being cited. Mass mailings to city officials just won’t happen. What legal and effective way do citizens have to influence their local precincts? How about hold bad cops accountable? There is more then enough evidence to arrest these cops. That would end the riots right now. Ask yourself why they would rather let the country burn then hold two cops accountable for excessive force resulting in the death of a black man? |

Who's going to arrest these bad cops? Their own departments only reprimand them and send them right back on the streets. |

I was going to object that the people at any time are at completely different levels of advancement, -then I realized that was solved by reincarnating backward or forward in time. The ones not rioting will stop the ones who are. Mothers will put their foot down and things will get back to tame picketing and peaceful protest. And if one of the looting kind cannot be reasoned with and continues to be a threat to people then have the courage to arrest him and end the threat. |
