Even in my own apartment building, they put circles on the floor of the elevator to show us where we're supposed to stand to social distance. They also made it illegal for the stores to sell alcoholic beverages for the first 2 months, but they finally loosened up on that after they started having problems with bootleggers and smugglers. For the longest time, nothing was open except grocery stores and drug stores. As Murphy's Law would have it, our air conditioner and washing machine broke, two of our computers melted down, and I couldn't get water filters anymore. So we were stuck in a home as hot as an oven, washing our clothes in the sink, and sharing a computer. They finally opened up the hardware, appliance, and computer stores again, but we had to order online and wait a week.
