Anonymous Coward User ID: 77352838 United States 06/02/2020 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thank them for what? They get thanked twice a month when they get their paychecks. Not to mention the ridiculous pensions that they all seem to comp. out on to get even more. I think cops used to really care about their jobs and goals but now, it's just a paycheck until they can retire earlier than any average citizen. |

So tomorrow if you see a police officer , tell them thank you. This. Thank you. Have several in the family and they are usually the first ones to come upon horrific suicides and traffic accidents and then once completed there must continue on with these images still forcing through in their minds. They always buy food for hungry families and have saved many children from abusive situations. It's always the drug user or drunk aholes who complain, or start trouble, and then get upset when police must use force to subdue them...its a hard job and if police keep being degraded constantly, many will quit...then who is going to help us, the military, or the UN, or something else? Please realize most police folks are good people, very few are not. |

So tomorrow if you see a police officer , tell them thank you. Thank you OP! In my opinion and experience here in Oklahoma, you are correct. In fact, whenever we see one of our local sheriff's deputies, or even the Sheriff himself, we Thank them for their service. They are a great group of officers. We have even Thanked members of the Highway Patrol when we see them. They put their lives on the line every day to deal with numerous situations, including some of the most dangerous situations and people. Unlike teachers, who get paid to sit at their desks while computers teach (or rather brainwash) kids, officers are busy dealing with situation after situation from the time their shift begins until it ends. And now with all of the BS going on, they are working overtime. One thing that they need to STOP doing though, is "taking a knee" for and with the BLM. That is utter BS and will cause loss of respect real fast. |

Right now they are highlighting the worst of the worst. It doesn’t mean that’s the dominant reality. Above all remember this is not about cops and race, it’s about controlling us with fear. |

My grandfather was a state patrol back in the 60's 70's pulled his gun twice in 20 years and shot into the air to disperse a crowd. Other than that he would drop his gun belt on the ground and fight like a real man. |

User ID: 77515983 United Kingdom 06/03/2020 06:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Case in point: George Floyd died at the hands of the American police state. The callous, cold-blooded murder of the unarmed, 46-year-old black man by police is nothing new: for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, police knelt on Floyd’s neck while the man pleaded for his life, struggled to breathe, cried out for his dead mother, and finally passed out and died. Floyd is yet another victim of a broken system of policing that has placed “we the people” at the mercy of militarized cops who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to “serve and protect.” Daily, Americans are being shot, stripped, searched, choked, beaten and tasered by police for little more than daring to frown, smile, question, challenge an order or just exist. I’m talking about the growing numbers of unarmed people are who being shot and killed for just standing a certain way, or moving a certain way, or holding something—anything—that police could misinterpret to be a gun, or igniting some trigger-centric fear in a police officer’s mind that has nothing to do with an actual threat to their safety."
