Re: Trump the King - First Thing: police gassed protesters so Trump could get a photo op
The president threatened to deploy federal troops as demonstrations continued around the US. Plus, why Run the Jewels are the right band for the times

Good morning.

Donald Trump walked from the White House to the nearby St John’s Episcopal church on Monday. Not to worship or pray there, as many presidents have done before, but to pose for a photo holding a copy of the bible aloft. Just beforehand, police had used teargas and rubber bullets to clear a crowd of peaceful protesters from his path.

The photo op came shortly after Trump described himself as “your president of law and order”, and threatened to deploy federal troops to quell the nationwide protests over the police killing of George Floyd – a threat that would require him to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act, last used during the LA riots of 1992.

Church leaders responded to his behaviour with outrage, but the president was unrepentant. Also on Monday, he ranted at governors and other officials that they must “dominate” their states and cities, saying otherwise they would “look like a bunch of jerks.”

This president has “built his entire political career as a gold-painted tower to incite violence,” says Richard Wolffe. And in threatening to deploy the military, writes David Smith, Trump has raised the spectre of fascism:

Comparisons to dictators, fashionable during Trump’s political ascent, have fallen out of favour in recent years. Now they might be in for a comeback.

Barack Obama applauded the peaceful protesters in a Medium post that presented a stark contrast to Trump’s response. The former president offered advice on translating the demonstrations into a “turning point” for the struggle to address structural racism.

Trump posed for the cameras with a Bible in his hand in front of the windows of the church, whose basement caught fire, although no major damage was done.

Calling the protests over George Floyd’s death outside the White House "a total disgrace", US President Donald Trump said he was "dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement offices to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism assaults and the wanton destruction of property".

He said the government was putting everybody on warning that seven o'clock curfew will be strictly enforced. He vowed to arrest and prosecute all those "who threatened innocent life and property"."I want the organisers of this terror to be on notice that you will face severe criminal penalties and lengthy sentences in jail." At the end of his speech, Trump said he would go to "pay my respects to a very, very special place".

Surrounded by dozens of security personnel, he then walked out of the White House across Lafayette Square to St. John's Episcopal Church that was damaged in fire amid protests on Sunday. He was accompanied by Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, and Ivanka Trump, his eldest daughter and senior adviser.

The church, just a few steps away, was built in 1815; every president since James Madison has attended services there.

Trump posed for the cameras with a Bible in his hand in front of the windows of the church, whose basement caught fire, although no major damage was done.

Everyone has this wrong.

Trump did not gas protestors so he could get a photo op.

Trump *walked across the street* so he could get a photo op.

The protestors got gassed because they did not move when police cleared the area for the president to walk across the street.

Seems reasonable to me.

The poor peaceful protesters who have not created havoc, set fires, looted stores, destroyed property, beat up people, and maybe killed one. Poor peaceful people were tear gassed.

When I was a child my parents always told me to be careful about choosing friends because I would be guilty by association if they did something wrong.

Trump trumped the MSM and leftists again and they're complaining. Find a binky and a safe space because he will do it again.

 Quoting: REBEL ROUSER

He had peaceful protestors gassed and shot with rubber bullets so he could go to his photo op.

He did not go in the church.

He did not pray.

He did not open the Bible and read scripture from it.

He held the Bible up, upside down, in front of a church for a photo op.

He is using sacred Christian symbols for his own selfish reasons.

Heresy.

I keep thinking about how different this would be if he had gone into that church to pray and not to just hold up a Bible. If he had simply acknowledged in some small way that he answers to Jesus Christ for what he does and not implied that God and Jesus stand with him whatever he decides.

I was watching and the news seemed to miss the point. They were going on and on about the surreal atmosphere of rioters right outside the gates of the rose garden while he was speaking. While he was speaking, you could hear the tear gas canisters going off in the background. Literally 5 minutes later Trump strolled down the very same street like a BOSS. It was glorious....and totally lost on the people reporting.

Trump is the true president of law and order, he is the American savior.

Matthew 6;5 and 6;6

Maybe he prayed in private
 Quoting: REBEL ROUSER

He had peaceful protestors gassed and shot with rubber bullets so he could go to his photo op.

He did not go in the church.

He did not pray.

He did not open the Bible and read scripture from it.

He held the Bible up, upside down, in front of a church for a photo op.

He is using sacred Christian symbols for his own selfish reasons.

Heresy.

Come on people. Really??!?! How are yous believing this nonsense.

Can you imagine any politician, Trump or other, saying "I see a photo opp here to make myself look good and gather support. Oh, but first, let's shoot all those peaceful protesters out there with rubber bullets, and gas them in FULL FREAKING VIEW OF THE PUBLIC, MEDIA, ETC. Oh, and let's do it in BROAD DAYLIGHT too."

This is just stupid people.
