I've never had a cop help me in my life, and now I'm expected to thank one?

Cops have helped me many times.

Once a guy on drugs had a problem with my lawn. Cops chased him down.

Another 2 times domestic violence issues (didn't involve me but I was there) and the cops didn't automatically blame man. They were polite and diffused the situations and everything worked out.

I actually tend to agree...

Any time I've ever actually needed a cop they have been utterly useless.

90% of the time they are complete fucking abusive assholes.

Every day that you have slept peacefully in your bed at night a cop has helped you. Don't be an ungrateful idiot!

Let the blacks and cops fight it out.....what's the downside?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75391349

Criminals do their job. Police should do theirs. This isn't just about a black man dying. This is about Authoritarianism.

Let them peacefully protest. Arrest the rioters arsonist and looters. That is all.

Many complain about their rights. Here's patriots, doctors, mom & pop store owners chance to say you shut down my business, you shut down my churches for nor valid reason...

Here is your chance to say an injustice to one. Is an injustice to all. This isn't just about a black man dying. This is about Authoritarianism.

Imagine if 2nd amendment folks walked on the side of all those young people.

The powers that be would see we all truly want change.

Instead all hear is black this, if they come to the suburbs. Nobody cares to loot your leased car or rob you of your or me of our 30 year underwater mortgage.

For what specific reason should I do that?

People don't usually need their seat belt or helmet or fire extinguisher or firearms, but that doesn't change anything when it comes to their value when needed.

You're a low ball, if even off the ground when it comes to life. I hope you never need police, but if you do... I still hope one is around to help, because they 100% will.

There would be many more murderers, rapists, and drug dealers in your neighborhood...

I dunno....

Before there were cops these things had a way of working themselves out..

The townsfolk would deal with it.

Re: I've never had a cop help me in my life, and now I'm expected to thank one?
How about right now with the nation hoping the cops will stop Antifa or the looters.
Perhaps they never helped you directly, but if you live anywhere near a big democrat city right now, you are probably relying on them to do something to help your community.

I have never been on the side of cops necessarily. I get angry at things like traffic tickets, etc.

But then, I have a neighbor who was both a drug addict and a thief and the cops were the only ones who were able to keep them out of my house. It wasn't perfect, but at least I was able to call someone when I came home to them busting inside my house and taking things.

Do you ever think that without police you might not even be alive? If we lived in anarchy no one would be certain of surviving to complain about anything.
Just don't make anything up.

OP, you're either a young idealist or your a complete moron. You proclaim that all cops are corrupt, victimizing predators who never help anyone. You paint with a broad brush and state as fact that a large diverse group of individuals is all the same... if you removed the badge from your argument and replaced it with extra melanin, youd understand that you are guilty of having the same prejudiced way of thinking that you cite as the root of this whole problem. .
There is nothing in life that is strictly black and white. And it frequently takes age and experience to understand the that fact.

i've had more good experiences with police than bad ones. one example: had a care worker stealing pain meds from one of my parents once...the officer that helped us with that situation was great.

Re: I've never had a cop help me in my life, and now I'm expected to thank one?
We have laws. Too many laws. And corporations with too much money and power holding back jobs and wages.
I can't even get a guy who is in my home for fear of being jailed for it.
I can't hold someone in custody, it is kidnap.
I can't teach someone a lesson who tries car-grabbing, it is battery.
I can't even build a patio awning without a permit.
I can't get a job without a phony psych test, IQ test,
credit report, on and on.
The over-reaching laws and politicians who are
corporate suckups are the
Problem.
Teach the politicians and corporate rich biches your views, not businesses and ordinary people in cars, dumb.
Fight for completely different police training, go to
the decision-makers.

I can only speak from personal experience.I have had many an officer reach out to help me in my life. I also mean going above and beyond what duty they are required normally.Just little different things here and there. And at least one confirmed time that my very life was saved by a State Trooper as a child or I wouldn't be here today.

I won't hesitate to say Thank You.

And truly mean it.

Cops are not for the people, they have been transformed into the 'local auxiliary branches' of the corporate protection services industry.
