That's exactly their strategy (Well, other than the ones who actually want to see it burn to the ground, anyway). It's the Baltimore "Give them space to destroy" model. It's actually been somewhat effective in past events. Usually, they throw their temper tantrum and get bored after a few days.

This is something different. It's well orchestrated, well-funded, perfectly timed with the economic devestation being wrought by the virus and subsequent lockdowns, and now, it is international in scope. They are emboldened by the authorities' lack of action to stop them. That they managed to keep the intensity going over a weekend and in to a Monday is unprecedented. Unless local governments finally turn the police and National Guard loose, it's only going to continue to spread.

The problem with NYrs (where I’m from) they are sooo helplessly distracted and blissfully ignorant they will literally follow king Cuomo right off a cliff. You cannot get through to these people you cannot deploy reason or facts as an argument. Even an angry mob burning their house down will not phase them. This is why I left. It was a hopeless situation and I saw the writing on the wall long ago and knew my house value would plummet the taxes are ever increasing and there was never gonna be a better time to sell and GTFO. and no sooner did I do that - boom 2020 out of nowhere I didn’t know what it would be but I knew it would be something. Election year and all. I said I either sell now and bounce or I’m stuck here for several more years waiting for a housing market that may or may not ever recover. And you CANNOT EXPLAIN THIS TO THEM. I still have friends and family up there I can literally show them my bank statements like listen asshole - forget your politics look at the MONEY you are missing out on. Leaving that horrible state literally saves me 15 grand a year - it’s right here in black and white LOOK.
