50 years ago First Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas, gave coloring sheets with pictures of "the devil" to my children to color and bring home. Needless to say, I didn't let their grandparents take them to Sunday School there ever again!

There's a good book about the life of Benvenuto Cellini, a silversmith in Italy in the 1500s.

It details his life as a craftsman and also other things. I don't know if he was lying or delusional or telling the truth, but he said that he was outside somewhere sitting surrounded by buildings full of gargoyles and he saw the things suddenly take flight all around him and he knew they were demonic. Look, how would you feel if you ran a church across the street from the White House, and the president never visited, never came to pray and then one day he walks across the street, picks up a bible, doesn't pray or say a word, waves it around and then walks back across the street.

Well if it was my church, I would have welcomed him in. Wasn't it boarded up and closed? In which case I would have been glad to stand on the street there with him.
And as God is no respecter of persons, in our church, everybody was welcome.
Our doors were unlocked during services and we've had mentally ill, elderly, all kinds come in and roam around, take literature and leave, as long as they aren't disruptive we leave them be.

Speaking as an Episcopalian who attends a Reformed Episcopal Church, I think they need to be gassed again.
